intriguing homicide investigation,
This review is from: Murder of a Wedding Belle: A Scumble River Mystery (Mass Market Paperback)
Scrumble River school psychologist Skye Denison also serves as a consultant to the police department run by her boyfriend Wally Boyd. Six months ago, the Chief of Police asked Skye to marry him, but though she loves Wally she keeps putting him off with excuses as she fears placing her heart on the line again.
Trouble starts for Skye when her California cousin Riley decides to marry her powerful millionaire fiancé in Scrumble River. She reluctantly agrees to serve as maid of honor but when elitist snob wedding planner Belle Canfield informs Skye that her Cuz named her as her wedding assistant on this event, Skye becomes extremely upset. Although she tries, she cannot get out of working for the stern taskmistress who antagonizes everyone she meets until Belle pushes someone over the edge and murders her. Skye assists Wally on the homicide investigation while also putting together the marriage ceremony as the paid wedding planner. As always with a Scrumble River police procedural (see Murder of a Royale Pain) Denise Swanson combines humor and romance within an intriguing homicide investigation while the support cast feels like friends. There are plenty of suspects just on the wedding list and Skye using her psychological skills find many with strong motives, but must ferret out who would act on the desire. Readers who have put together a social event like a wedding will commiserate with the heroine, as she finds relief in working the Murder of a Wedding Belle. Harriet Klausner

Rain, a cup of peppermint tea, and Denise Swanson's latest Scumble River mystery made for a perfect afternoon.
While school is out for the summer, school psychologist Skye Dennison keeps busy wearing a number of other hats including her position as psychological consultant for the police, bridesmaid for her cousin's upscale-to-excess wedding, and wedding planner for the over-the-top extravaganza. All of the delightful Scumble River characters are back including Wally, Simon and Belle, May and Vince, Frannie and Justin, and the not-so-delightful but highly entertaining Dooziers. This is the kind of book that while I want to keep reading and find out who did it (I couldn't figure it out before Skye), at the same time I don't want to get to the end (especially since it will be next April before I get to Scumble River again).

Once again Denise Swanson has delivered an intriguing mystery. She finds a perfect balance for newcomers to the series and those who have followed the series from the beginning. Just the right amount of information to let new readers know the characters without boring old readers.
Murder of a Wedding Belle is a nice combination of mystery, romance and humor. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can relate to the chaos surrounding this wedding.

I have read all the books in this series and this was another enjoyable book as were the others. I enjoy reading about Skye's interactions with her family members and this book keeps you turning the pages right up till the end. The Scumble River books are always filled with laughs and mystery. I am looking foward to the next in the series to find out what happens in Skye's love life.

I have read this whole series and I love Skye and the entire Scumble River "gang". Murder of a Wedding Belle does not disappoint except I have a question. I do not remember in previous books it being mentioned that Skye had been in the Peace Corps years before she returned to Scumble River. Seriously is this new or am I more senile than I thought.

The 12th book of the Scumble River mystery series. Skye's cousin Riley returns to SR to get married. She is marrying a very rich man (divorced with 2 children in college) and wants to show everyone how far she has come. Her wedding planner Belle is killed a few weeks before the wedding and Skye is forced by her grandmother to take over the duties. Skye and Wally are in search of the killer. Of course, the Doziers make an appearance (hilarious, as usual). There is alot of corruption in this wedding. Now I have to wait a year for number 13.

Ms Swanson has done it again. Just when you begin to think there's no possible way Skye Denison find another dead body in the tiny town of Scumble River, Ms Swanson figures a way to make it happen. Weddings are always stressful, but Ms Swanson takes it to a whole new level when the wedding planner is found dead and Skye has to step in and not only put on the wedding of the century, but solve a murder at the same time.
All the colorful cast of characters are in attendance, providing comic relief and clues. And with two men vying for her attention, Skye's love life is heating up. If you haven't visited Scumble River I highly recommend the trip.
