4.0 out of 5 stars At last! A classic whodunnit!, March 6, 2011
This review is from: Murder at the Masque (Hardcover)
Finally! I have been searching for ages for a modern mystery writer who does classic whodunnits in the style of Agatha Christie. They're hard to come by, for sure. Too many mystery authors are too busy writing about themselves, their cat and their gardenias to actually bother to make their mysteries interesting any more. By the time you get through all the sub-plots with the local eccentrics and the staff of the would-be sleuth's tea shop, the murder is almost incidental.

Myers creates a grand whodunnit with larger than life characters, more than a dash of wit, and sub-plots that swirl around the murder and muddy the waters, instead of pushing the crime completely out of the novel. Throw in a couple of very satisfying twists at the end, and you have a classic mystery a la Christie, yet completely and wholly original. Yay!
