5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Soundtrack, August 6, 2005

Like the multi-dimensional lives of the characters in the film, this soundtrack reaches into different tones -- and like the film, this album comes together into an amazing piece.

The Polyphonic Spree, The Moldy Peaches and The Whiles seduce us into softer moods, while kicking Ministry tracks open and close the album and keep the adrenaline pumping.

I agree that Jamie Saft's score is an intergral part of the soundtrack, but the other tunes on the album compliment Saft's tracks well to make a great and solid CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs more Jamie Saft, July 26, 2005
This review is from: Murderball (Score) (Audio CD)
I'll second the opinion of previous reviewer 'sac' who has hit the nail on the head when he says that he wishes there was more of composer Jamie Saft's efforts on here.

Exactly.

The soundtrack of the movie itself is a five-star effort. It's an integral part of the intense, visceral feel of the film. But the soundtrack as released on CD gets docked a star. It's Saft's compositions that drive the film. There simply has to be more of it on here, even if it meant pushing out some of the other works to get it done. I realize that's probably not the most commercial thinking in the world, but...that's two of us so far registering the same disappointment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great movie, cool soundtrack, July 12, 2005
This review is from: Murderball (Score) (Audio CD)
Murderball is a kick-ass movie with an awesome variety of music. The music plays such an important role in the film, I was glad to see the soundtrack for sale. Ministry and Polyphonic Spree on the same CD, and it totally works! This is the kind of CD that will get you inspired, just like the movie does. I am taking away one star because I really do wish the soundtrack featured more of the amazing score from the film (composed by Jamie Saft, which I can't buy elsewhere). Maybe a second cd to be released with the whole score? Otherwise very cool collection.
