First, I should mention, if you're seeking an action-packed game, you should probably look elsewhere. 95% of the gameplay is as follows: you walk around, you find clues, you pick up collectibles, you piece together the clues to solve the investigation, and that's essentially the entire game. The other 5% of gameplay is stealth based, you occasionally have to work your way around demons by either getting by them without them seeing you or picking them off one by one via stealth by getting behind them and performing a takedown. The game itself is probably most similar to LA Noire mixed with Beyond: Two Souls or Heavy Rain in this regard.

The gameplay is extremely simplistic, the puzzles/investigations aren't that difficult to figure out and there's no way you can fail them since you get unlimited chances to pick the correct answer that you need. There's no alternate paths like LA Noire if you pick the wrong answer, there's only one right answer and if you don't know it, just pick each possible choice and eventually you will get it with no consequences for failing. The only way you can fail in the game is if a demon gets you and those sections are also extremely easy, so there's almost no difficulty factor in this game whatsoever, come to think of it, there's not even a difficulty setting, hence why this game is not for everyone since there's virtually no challenge involved like most other video games. This is game is meant to be an experience like Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain, not a challenge or a test of skill.

The game is open world, but it's similar to how the Batman Arkham games are where each chapter of the game takes place in a different building, all linked together by an open world.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Game but Incredibly Short! June 4, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4
This game has awesome simplistic game play that anyone, of any age could handle. The only "mature" thing about this game is the language and theme. The game play is good, although there is a share of bugs (white screen, freezing, getting stuck inside someone to name a few...) and it also is consistent the whole game.

The "puzzles" are easy. There is no difficulty setting and the AI are incredibly stupid. You can literally just switch back inforth between two "dwelling spirits" until they go away and the game is short, I cleared the game with all side mission (not collectibles) in under 8 hours... there are no alternative endings.

The games has a great story, with a cinematic feel like Heavy Rain and Beyond two souls but it doesn't have the polish and creativity of them...

I feel awful because my parents are in a tight spot financially and dished out $60 for a game (birthday present) that didn't even last me half a day...

-Great Story
-Good Voice Acting

-Extremely Short Game (8- Hours)
-No difficulty setting
-No replay-ability
-No polish - lots of bugs
-Stupid AI bots

Play it for the story but wait for a price drop. I wouldn't say this game is worth a penny over $30

5.0 out of 5 stars Game that will appeal to everyone June 28, 2014
By Madison

I'm a female gamer. While I am quite selective about the games I play (Resident evil, Dead Space, Silent Hill, Alan Wake to name a few), I generally like games that are story-driven. The reason why I read books, watch movies, play games is because I want to be entertained and immersed into the story. I was looking forward to this game since last year, and it doesn't disappoint. This game will appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers.

You're a ghost who's trying to solve your own murder. Reminds me of Ghost starring Swazye. If you're looking for a shooting game, then look elsewhere. Seriously, this isn't a weapon-wielding-run-and-gun-em kinda game. In fact, you can't even carry a weapon (what with your being a ghost). There is no combat system. You spend most of the time collecting collectibles (I love exploring), learning the characters' backstory, and honing your detective skills. You meet other ghosts that are stuck in this realm and try to help them move on. You can possess people and peek at their notes, read their thoughts and eavesdrop. I sometimes like to possess people just to see what they're thinking, even if it isn't directly related to an investigation. What can I say, I'm voyeuristic. LOL.

The only combat scenes are when you're trying to elude a demon by hiding and/or execute 'em by pressing the appropriate buttons. You can die if the demons get ahold of you, but you come back to the same place. This game is reminiscent of L.A Noire. While L.A Noire can be slightly punishing ( in terms of rank and such), this game isn't. Even if you get the answers wrong during an investigation, you can still progress by re-trying until you get it right. This game is very beautiful with great voice acting. The gameplay is very intuitive. I love walking through walls and objects.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Ain't 'Fraid of No Ghost June 4, 2014
By Elias
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4
Many games I enjoy are, unfortunately, forgotten by the annals of time. Games that I feel are unique and invigorating, a solid break from the usual hokum this industry offers and a concentrated effort of original ideas are, unfortunately, mauled critically for their unwillingness to conform to industry norms and current trends. It happened to personal favorites "Wet," "Enslaved: Odyssey to the West," and last year's excellent "Remember Me." These were experiences that, while definitely not the most polished in the world, were nevertheless worthy of commendation and praise based on the very purpose of their existence. By my standards, a game should not be reviewed based on how pretty it is, or how much it's like whatever's big on the market at that moment in time. It should be judged on how fun it is, and what it brings to the table in terms of what content it's trying to put forth, whether that be tactical gameplay, mindless chaos, or narrative depth.

And from where I stand, "Murdered Soul Suspect" was squarely focused on that last one, perhaps even at the expense of other gameplay elements. But the thing is? Those other elements actually work, and in fact, don't really hinder the game at all. Everything else in the piece simply exists to further the plot, and never really bothers to hamper the player with padding or artificial difficulty. What we're left with, then, is a game that has a fantastic story leagues above anything out there, aided by simple yet engaging gameplay which serves its purposes admirably and without fault, complemented by an interesting art direction and elegant score.

Decent story, solid graphics, dull as dirt gameplay, easy platinum (if you care about such things).

Kind of boring. I thought it was going to be more complex and interesting but it is plain and repetitive. I played it once and it's still on my drawer since then.

Awesome game if you like the story aspect more than the gameplay itself which this more focused on. Bit like the Walking dead games where there are a lot of cuts scenes. Read more
