Mystery Writer or Detective?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Murdered, My Sweet (School & Library Binding)
Jenny Jakes and her mother, Madeline Jakes the mystery writer, get invited to their very rich cousin's, Arnold Harmony, reading of his will even though he isn't dead. Right before of the reading will they found out that Porter Harmony, Arnold's son, has been murdered. Jenny's mother decides to help solve the case like a real detective even though she isn't. Just when Madeline and Jenny think they've solved the mystery, something unexpected happens! I liked this book very much. The reason why is because it was suspenseful and it made you keep guessing till the end of the book. It also had no boring parts, it always had action in it. I would give this book 5 star out of 5 stars. Another book that is just as good as this book is Secret, Silent Screams, by Joan Lowery Nixon. It too is very unpredictable and always keeping at the edge of your seat.

B McCrary,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Murdered, My Sweet (Mass Market Paperback)
Murdered, My Sweet is a very good mystery book, especially for a child like me. The book a based on a mother and a daughter going to a reunion like for her grandfather and he is rereading his will. Then his son gets murdered before the grandfather reads his will. Then the mother which is an author for writing mystery books is trying to solve the crime mystery on why and who killed the son of the grandfather.Well there is an investigator and he is like askin everybody that was in this room what happened and then the mom was trying to help him out and there was people that was saying she was the best mystery solver. Then there is this secret code name "Tea Pot" and it had to do with the grandfather when he would die that they would like take over the company, see the grandfather is the owner for this chocolate factory and he is very wealthy. The daughter found out about it and the two people that were involved they were saying that they weren't going to do it anymore. They had to tell the investigator that and so they would see if they had killed the son. The most of the book at the end is basically saying what happened about the murder and what happened about the will. That is why I like this book because I really like mystery books.

A Real Page Turner,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Murdered, My Sweet (Hardcover)
Looking for a good book? Try "Murderd My Sweet"By Joan Lowery Nixon. This book is about a teenage girl named Jennifer ( Jenny) , and her mother Madeline( who is a famous mystery writer) who try to solve the case of Jennifer's cousin and uncle's death. Both of them were murderd. Jenny's mother , Madeline has many fans of her books that thik that she actually solves real mysteries with the policelik a mystery-writer who solves mysteries on TV. Madeline ahs never helped the police solve a crime before, until now. I liked this book a lot because it was scary and suspenseful. It made me keep wanting to read it. I highly reccommend this book. If you like this book, check out other books by Joan Lowery Nixon, such as "The Ghosts of Now"which is similar in a way to this book. It is about a teenage girl who is trying to find out who hit her brother with a car, putting him in the hospital for months. He is in a coma. That book is a real page turner as well.

Murder In San Antonio,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Murdered, My Sweet (School & Library Binding)
The Novel Murdered My Sweet is a mystery novel that has many suspenses and is a real page turner. In this novel a girl named Jenny Jakes mother who is Madeline Jakes is a famous mystery writer. Jenny's mom and her were both invited to San Antonio for her mother's millionare cousin Arnold's will reading. Arnold at his will reading has requested his relatives and important employees to attend. Jenny Jakes and her mother had expected the trip to be an intersting one but the story begins to take a real twist. The story takes it's twist when everyone turns to Jenny's mother Madeline Jakes the famous mystery writer to solve the murder case that has happened at the will reading. However she has never really solved a real murder just on television and in her mystery novels. So to keep her reputation Madeline begins to work with the detectives who are trying to crack the case themselves. Which in return Jenny becomes like her mother personal assistant and so does this bellboy that jenny likes during th story. However Jenny becomes the sole back bone in solving the murder case. This novel is full of suspense and adventure and romance. I would tell a person who plans on reading this novel that to be prepared to stay up all night because you won't want to stop reading. This novel i would recommend for a teen or young adult audience. also for anyone who enjoys mysteries and many twist to a story. Another group of people I would recommend it to is people who enjoy detecting and solving mysteriesor wants to become a future detective because with this novel it will keep you thinking and your mind jogging. I think that this novel is a great with plenty of suspense. After reading this novel it makes me want to go get more of her mystery novels because of the experience I had with this one. For anyone who plans on reading this I guarantee that after reading it you will want to go pick up more of her novels once your done reading this one.

Nixon Never Fails To Write A Good Mystery!...,
By T (Sacramento, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Murdered, My Sweet (School & Library Binding)
"Murdered, My Sweet" was one of Joan Lowery Nixon's best books! It was packed with redherrings (people who the author wants you to think the murderer is) and the murderer could've been a number of people. I must say that the ending was very abrupt and wasn't like all Nixon's other endings (action-packed and suspenseful). But, I'm still rating this a five because she made up for it with comedy and romance!.....The storyline revolves around a girl named Jenny Jakes. Jenny's mother is a mystery writer who is known around the world. Jenny and her mother are invited to their Uncle Arnold's party in San Antonio, celebrating the reading of his will. When they arrive the guests act mysterious and some even say that reading his will could be dangerous, especially since he made revisions. Before the will is read, Arnold's son, Porter, is murdered! When Jenny's mom -- Madeline -- starts to investigate, things start getting dangerous. Maybe the murderer thinks Madeline and Jenny know too much. Are they the next vitims? Find out in the thrilling, "Murdered, My Sweet!" Also recommended: "Name of the Game Was Murder" & "Nobody's There."

Thriller, there are suprises around every corner! This story is about a girl who is involved with a murder mystery. She is going to her mother's cousin's will reading, but mysteriously the son of her cousin is murdered. Strange things start to happen, like she is locked on to her balcony and she can't get back inside. Then she is having a photo done at a restraunt, and a flower pot is hurled at her. Who did it? If you want to find out read this book by Joan Lowery Nixon. She has written many wonderful books including this one called, Murdered,My Sweet. I recommend this book to any one who is at least in fourth grade, and is sick of the Hardy Boys, and who loves mysteries.

This is abook about a girl named Jenny who has a mom that is a mystery writer and suddenly, at a party, a real murder happens and she decides to be a detective, though she knows nothing about solving crime, so Jenny decides to help her. Together they're able find out a lot, but is it enough to solve the case before the murderer stikes again? I thought this book was very interesting and had a good plot, but Iwas a little dissapointed because it's not scary.
