4.0 out of 5 stars I love Oscar G but I expected better.
Living in Miami I'm spoiled that I get to listem to this guy each and every Saturday night at the number 1 club in the US Space 34. His sets are full of energy, the kind that will NOT let you gett off the dance floor, much less leave the club. He never dissappoints. I was looking forward to this CD very much however i was slightly dissappointed in the sets energy...

2.0 out of 5 stars Oscar G Is Capbable of a Much Better Set
The anticipation was killing me as I waited for the new release from Murk (comprised of Oscar G....resident of Space 34 in Miami and Ralph Falcon....longtime friend of Oscar G.) Finally the cd arrived and ugh....what a disappointment. The vocals on this one are horrible. Remember back in the day when Darude churned out several formula songs that tried to recapture the...

Living in Miami I'm spoiled that I get to listem to this guy each and every Saturday night at the number 1 club in the US Space 34. His sets are full of energy, the kind that will NOT let you gett off the dance floor, much less leave the club. He never dissappoints. I was looking forward to this CD very much however i was slightly dissappointed in the sets energy. That's not to say this set is a dissappointment by any means. I love the Murk sound Oscar and Ralph have pioneered. Its takes a few listens to really feel the vibe and get in tune to what they are doing. Things heat up with track 5 and the silky voice of Jennifer Carbonell, track 6, Let me Go is another nice smooth track with a male vocal. Baba Sulei was a pleasant surprise at track 8.

I expected more because I think highly of these 2. Think about it though: These tracks thrown down in a club would bring any crowd to a frenzy. Thats what their intention is and has always been. They pioneered the Murk sound to sound good in the clubs. This CD wont dissappoint. It's just unfair that the 2 people who have reviwed this CD have the pleasure of seeing Oscar G live every weekend. Thats a hard standard to be judged against. Other than Deep Dish, who comes close to duplicating what they do live to what they do on a set mixed in a studio? Not many.

This is definately worth a buy. I look at it as CD 1 to the more anticipated (in my eyes) Oscar G "Live at Club Space" release due out December 9th.

That one will not dissappoint. Murk my words!!!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Murk (Audio CD)
I enjoy pretty much all of Murk's productions and remixes, this CD is no expection. So what if it is a bit repetative, that's part of the fun. Why stray from a successful formula? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! This CD consists of Progressive House with as much Tribal beats as you can handle! My favourite track here is one of the hit singles "Believe", with the gorgeous voice of Tamara (from the Funky Green Dogs). If you enjoy this style of music, don't histitate to get this album.

Finally the cd arrived and ugh....what a disappointment. The vocals on this one are horrible. Remember back in the day when Darude churned out several formula songs that tried to recapture the magic of Sandstorm?? This is that same crap-o-la formula applied to Murk's "Dark Beat" on this garbage dump. The only saving song that even remotely tries to break new ground is "Baba Sulei"....a very interesting track that conjures up the best of tribal and hard house. As for the rest of the tunes....they get old after the first play....you won't keep this one around very long....either you'll lose it under your good cd's or if you're smart you'll try to pawn it off on the local used CD store !!

1.0 out of 5 stars Murk Muck, February 23, 2004
This review is from: Murk (Audio CD)
Excellent example of below-average, low-tempo, techno/dance music that's boring and goes on FOREVER... Four of the "songs" are seven minutes or longer and three of the others are in the six minute range. It seems like they'll never end. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen in the music, but it never does. My advice is to look elsewhere.
