Murmaids resurface,

This review is from: Murmaids (Audio CD)
A very nice album. Great pop songs of the 50's early 60s (and some earlier) redone with modern sound.Bought it "blind" because the Murmaids were the creators of one of the most evocative girl group records of my youth - "Popsicles and Icicles". I remember hearing it in a car headed for a beach just after my Grade 10 year was ending. The wind can't blow thru my hair anymore, but the song still makes me feel good. This album contains the original song, but more importantly, a contemporary remake of it, and another 30 or so minutes of great music. Other tracks include One Fine Day, Just One Look, an Elvis song medley, four Beatle songs, and a favorite of mine - "Rockin Robin". Some might find the recordings "polite" or too smoothe. Actually, the music and voices are really tight, but without being confining, and bring the songs back to life. I would highly recommend it to those whose musical sophistication has grown a bit since we enjoyed these songs as teenagers. I wish there was more music like this available today. With a couple of more tracks, would've given the disk 5 stars.
