5.0 out of 5 stars The original Murmurs sound, and definitely the Best
The Murmurs debut album is their absolute best - Blender [a.k.a. Pristine Smut] doesn't even come close, in my opinion it was a hollow follow-up to a perfect debut. 3.0 out of 5 stars get this for one song
This is an okay, folky, pissed off, left wing type of music. There is nothing wrong with it.

The music is pretty optmistic when, out of nowhere, you hear the duets' masterpiece. The definite highlight of the cd is "you suck" which is such a great, mean-spirited, kiss my @#$ type of song.

It could be a theme song for so much.

It...

5.0 out of 5 stars The original Murmurs sound, and definitely the Best, September 20, 1999

The Murmurs debut album is their absolute best - Blender [a.k.a. Pristine Smut] doesn't even come close, in my opinion it was a hollow follow-up to a perfect debut. "The Murmurs" is fresh, edgy, and beautifully simple. The cool smooth harmonies of two beautiful female voices, coupled with poised soulful guitaring means that this disc often gets a punishing in my CD player. It's a poppy, happy, wistful, uplifting experience, Ticket To Zen and Beautiful Peace being my stand-outs. After they created this masterpiece it's no wonder I was extremely disappointed in the next Murmurs release - this was a very hard act to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best CD of All Time, June 4, 2002
This review is from: Murmurs (Audio CD)
I saw The Murmurs in concert a long time ago in a little club in Missouri. They took my breath away. The cd is much different than the live performance. But, both are very very wonderful. Their harmony is just unreal. They sing from the heart. You can see Leisha Hailey in the Yoplait commercials which I thought was cool. Leisha and Heather are definately by far my fav. musicians!!!
They now have a new name for their band it's Gush! Different sound but still the same ole Heather and Leisha!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brings Back Memories, March 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Murmurs (Audio CD)
I first heard this album while living far from home one summer during college. I moved in with two people I'd never met before and we had nothing in common. One of the girls bought this cd and we all began to listen. By the end of the summer, we were all good friends and we knew every word of the cd. I still have a copy and everytime I play it, I am reminded of a wonderful summer far from home where I got to know two great people.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite CD for such a long time now, December 16, 2001

I bought this CD when it first came out because of the pretty and fun song "You Suck." Never before, and never since, have I found another CD where I was touched or moved by every track that played. This CD easily goes down as my all time favorite CD and I unfortunately find it much better than anything the Murmurs have put out since.

It's very rare to find two young women able to pull off the acoustic guitar and vocal harmonies like these two do. The lyrics range for deep and moving to fun and flighty. What a perfect collection of music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rainbow haired rock stars, June 30, 2003

The harmonies between the two leads are incredible and the songs are both fun and intense. The pieces seem simple but at the event of actually breaking everything apart, all variables are quite genius and virtually impossible to emulate. Buy it and test how long you can play the album on a loop, I've already lost count.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Murmurs, January 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Murmurs (Audio CD)
This cd is definetely the best work the murmurs have ever done. Filled with both pop and folk music, this cd is worth getting. Tracks such as "Mission" and "Carry Me Home" are incredible. Buy this record before any other Murmurs records- their acoustic music is better.

This is by far the best CD Leisha Hailey and Heather have produced. It has a folk-rock-alternative ring to it, making it soft, and somwehat fresh. Snap a copy if you can!
