It was much less expensive online than at the pharmacy.

I have been using this product for 6 months. At first I had limited success with recurrences when I woke up in the morning every few days - which is very uncomfortable. Those who have suffered from this type of injury understand this very well. Then I discovered a new way to apply it that changed everything. I have not had a recurrence in over 2 months now. Instead of just placing it under the lower eyelid prior to going to sleep; be sure to close your eye immediately after inserting it under the eyelid. Then roll your eyes 360 degrees with your eyes closed i.e. up, right, down left etc. Do this a few times and then, still with your eyes closed, go to sleep. This has the effect of spreading the ointment evenly throughout the corneal area.

Several years ago i had two abrasions on the same eye within a few months. I was also waking up in the middle of night with very dry eyes. The opthamologist suggested I use Genteal PM ointment, which I used up for over 2 years but was still waking up in the middle of the night with dry eyes and would have to put more ointment in. Last Dec. I went to a new opthamologist and told him what I was experiencing and he recommended I try Muro 128 5% ointment. I always thought the Genteal PM ointment was great, but the Muro 128 5% is a far superior product. I don't have to use as much each night and I don't wake up with dry eyes in the middle of the night. But, my eyes do have some of the ointment residue around them each morning, which I use a tissue to wipe off. This product isn't as readily available as Genteal, and when you do find it, it's quite expensive in the local pharmacy. Luckily, it's available here on Amazon in a twin pack for half the price. If you have a problem with night time dry eyes and/or eye abrasions, then you should try Muro 128 5% ointment.

******UPDATE********* Jan. 2013

I wanted to give an updated review on this product to show how important it had become to use this to help with dry eyes. I live overseas most of the year but during the summer (2012) I was back in California and had brought some of my huge stash of Muro 128 with me. But, I ran out and since I hadn't experienced dry eyes in quite a while, I didn't order any more and just used Genteal at night. Well, it didn't take long before I woke one morning with another abrasion. This was the 3rd one on the same eye! One of the first things the doctor asked me was, "Are you using the Muro 128 at night?" I learned my lesson the hard way. For me personally, this works very well in keep my eyes lubricated during the night and I will not be without this ointment every again. I just wished it was available with prime shipping.

The product is itself is great. However, I used to be able to order the Muro 128 twin pack for $25.69 and it qualified for free shipping. In the last couple of months this has changed. It now costs $29.99 + shipping. Now, it is more economical to buy this product from K-Mart.

I suffered extreme pain and felt like my eyes were sticking to the sockets when I slept. I tried all kinds of eye drops thinking it was allergies, etc. Finally it became unbearable! When the doctor examined my eyes he confirmed what I felt was happening....they were indeed sticking and I had torn my cornea. He recommended Muro 128. I was not familiar with it and it's hard to find, but since Aug. 2012 I have not missed a night's use! I was fortunate, at my follow up visit the doctor said it was healing nicely and to continue the Muro 128.

Several reviewers have mentioned to be sure and apply the ointment and be sure to roll your eye around to distribute the ointment. If in doubt, put in more! You need to be sure you coat the eye thoroughly before you go to sleep. I am post menopause and believe that may be a contributing factor. I have noticed that if I'm dehydrated or have failed to drink normal amounts of water that it will be worse....same for dry, windy days.

The price on Amazon is approx. half what you pay at a drugstore....unless you go to Costco....but it's hard to beat getting it delivered to your mailbox!

THANKS to Bausch & Lomb for a superb product that I will never be without!

I have recurrent corneal erosion and this product is the ONLY thing that has saved me. I've even had a laser surgery to try and correct the problem. I keep this by my bed and if I wake up in the night feeling like my cornea has "split" (extremely painful, you'll know if it has happened), I dab a bunch of this ointment in my eye, wait until the paid subsides enough to fall back asleep, and by morning my eye feels nearly normal again!

I have had several corneal abrasions and tears including one that took about 85% of the cornea. Anyone who deals with this kind of thing knows how painful and irritating it can be. I have used a number of products to help with caring for my eyes after these happen, and have found this product is by far the best for me. I use it every night and have for about 2 years now, and found the ointment is much easier for me than drops and is easier to apply, and now I won't use anything else. I also only get the twin pack because the price is a much better deal than a single and it's a lot cheaper than at any store in my area.

This came from AmericanWholesale and should have been packaged better. The box was completely smashed and so were the tubes of ointment. They didn't leak so I chose not to send them back.

I've only been using the ointment for 2 weeks. I use it nightly. I was a little scared to put this in my eye the first time, but it wasn't as bad ad I had imagined. I read the other reviews and this made the process easier. I put the ointment in the lower lid of my eye and looked up and down and around until the ointment seemed to melt. Then my vision gets really cloudy in that eye for a few minutes. I gave this item 4 stars so far because it burns after about 5 minutes. The burning sensation lasts a few minutes only.

I can't say if this product is working or not because I am having the same symptoms as before use. I had 2 corneal tears within 10 months with corneal erosion so my Opthamologist recommended using this for 2 months and see if the cornea gets better. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't noticed any change. I will post a follow up after 2 months of use.
