4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and Dangerous Adventure May 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved the cover so I downloaded this little gem and really enjoyed an afternoon of reading. Both Lilly and Jack were enjoyable characters that had wonderful chemistry together and a fantastic and dangerous adventure together. I will definitely look into what else Kat Attalla has written.

I think the best thing about this story was the witty dialogue between Lilly and Jack. They always seemed to have a witty or snarky comeback that would normally come to the rest of us hours later when it would be too late to be effective. Many times, Lilly would use a sentence Jack had previously said against him in a word play that would leave wounds. They were constantly getting the upper hand on each other with quick verbal sparring. I enjoyed it and thought it was intelligently done.

I have read a few romantic novels that include a kidnapped woman under the impression her kidnapper was corrupt only to find out he was protecting her at his own peril. The strained sexual tension reminiscent of the Stockholm syndrome is always hovering over the pair until it is established that they are being protected and not victimized. If you enjoyed Intimate Strangers by Laura Taylor or Run Among Thorns by Anna Louise Lucia, then you should enjoy this story also.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was okay **Spoiler Alert (possibly)** October 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot showed promise and the character development was fine. I just couldn't stand how stupid Lilly was at times. I mean Jack asks her not to go out by herself and what does she do? Leaves and goes out by herself. Her excuse? She needed lady products and it was embarassing to ask. Now tell me what makes more sense-being embarassed for a small amount of time or dead? Another thing that peeved me was Jack. He is chasing Lilly for months and he doesn't try to send her some kind of message that he's in the government and just wants to keep her safe? Then when he finally catches her, he still doesn't identify himself right away. What the hell?! The settings were enjoyable and the secondary characters were great. Although, you could see the villian coming from a mile away. Kind of predictable.

Good read. I haven't read a story line like this so it was refreshing. It was just the right amount of mystery, love, deception.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this February 16, 2013

Lilly and Jack are quite a pair in this book. Jack cracked me up. He was so arrogant that it became humorous. This was a great RS, it was fast paced and kept my attention throughout the whole book. I did figure out who the baddie was within a couple of chapters. But that did not take away from the book. I really enjoy this authors writing style and when I see her name I know that there are good things to come.

More About the Author

Like most authors, I didn't start out as a writer, but rather as a reader. My passion for romance novels began in my late teens and left me with an itch to discover the world. After living in places as culturally diverse as Athens, Greece and Cairo, Egypt (where I met and married my own romantic hero) we returned to the states.

From a very young age, I showed an aptitude for telling stories. Of course my mother called me a pathological liar, but I prefer to think back on those days as an apprenticeship for my future craft.

After the birth of my daughter, my husband suggested I take up writing as a hobby to fill my days. The hobby became a love, and the love an obsession. (Sometimes my husband was sorry he ever made that suggestion.)

I learned how to write from the best--the authors who penned the books I spent countless hours reading. Although my writing allows my mind to soar in clouds, I have a daughter who keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.
