This review is from: Murray Perahia: 25th Anniversary Edition (Audio CD)
In short: This set contanes not only a stunnig pianism but also highly interesting works (some of which I had no idea of how beutiful are). Listen to the German Dances by Mozart, Out of Doors by Bartók, the Berg and Tippet. His Rachmaninov is interesting but I find Ashkenazu better in the etudes. As for the Chopin concerto I find Metha not on the same level as Perahia. The Schubert impromtu is a killer! I garantee that this set contanes high quality pianism in every way.

5.0 out of 5 stars a comment about the Bartok, September 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Murray Perahia: 25th Anniversary Edition (Audio CD)
His rendition of the Bartok Piano Suite and the Out of Doors especially are the best in existence: a perfect mixture of precision and passion. He plays the works with great restraint, he does not give in to trying to play the work with "authentic" folksiness. His is both austere and wild. A truly amazing performance! The Best!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for your collection!, January 15, 2010

Put this in your wish list as gift possibilities for any who appreciate classical music. I got my copies of this 25th Edition the year of the release as part of a music subscription and glad to see it is still available and in demand because only 1 copy is left as of this posting! I encourage those relatively new to classical music appreciation to listen to Murray's beautiful solo delivery of each piece and be continuously amazed-to the ear unfamiliar with this music the imagination runs to the possibilities for background music for movies and theatre which many here are or have been used for.

A few of my favorites: Schumann-Papillons-1 & Scarlatti-Sonata in A Major
