As assistant to an Australian Government Minister, Murray Whelan (David Wenham – 300, Van Helsing) is often called upon to conduct special investigations that threaten the political reputation of his boss. With his subtle nature and his clumsy non-detective ways, he places himself into dangerous and compromising situations never realizing his life is in danger – but he is not to be underestimated, he is smarter than he appears.

STIFF - When a body is found in a freezer, Murray Whelan is asked to investigate. Danger soon comes at him from all angles and to make matters worse, his wife has left him, his house is falling apart and he has a disgruntled, tattooed voter hanging around his office.

THE BRUSH OFF - An artist is dead and Murray Whelan is out looking for answers. With villains on his tail, he is chased by cars and dangled from tall buildings, but he manages to escape death at every turn – for the next ten minutes, at least.

I can not say enough about David Wenham's talent. No matter what movies I buy he is outstanding. I only regret that it took Lord of the Rings to bring this talent out. I just saw Australia, and although he plays the meany, he still shines. All His characterizations are truly believable which shows the genius behind this talent. I hope to see much more of him in the future and I wish the movie makers would recognize the fact that he is sexy enough for lead parts.

The films were enjoyable. The character Murray Whelan is entertaining in a realistic way. David Wenham, as usual, is superb. The plots were a little convoluted and not crystal clear, but it was still a fun view. I have a feeling that there is a lot of humor I missed on the first viewing. The Aussie dialog is a little quick for my American ears to catch everything. Subtitles would have solved that problem.
