4.0 out of 5 stars Kona SUP Paddle
Great paddle for it's price. In fact it seems to be the only paddle in a moderate price range. The rest seem to be junk or very expensive. If you are a flat water paddler it would be nearly perfect. It doesn't appear to be as strong as the $300 paddles but unless you are a hard core surfer it is just fine.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work coming out of the box
You get what you pay for and I guess we're not paying for instructions, since mine didn't come with any. You get a paddle with a long open-ended tube and you're supposed to saw off one end, place the grip inside with glue and heat-set a piece of plastic around it. It would've been so easy for the mfr to make an adjustable lengthen paddle but they didn't. This paddle...

5.0 out of 5 stars no guilt paddle, June 28, 2010

the kona, made to my surprise by sevylor, is a real find for the paddleboard beginner: an affordable paddle easily cut to proper length for paddler height and water condition needs: in my case, flat water paddling. it's my first paddle--not knowing whether i'd take to the sport i just couldn't pull the trigger on a more expensive paddle--and they're all more expensive by a substantial margin near as i can tell. turns out i take to SUPing with enthusiasm, and i am equally enthusiastic about this paddle, which doesn't feel like a compromise at all out on the water. it could be that with more experience will come a need for more specific-use paddles; if and when that happens i'll still have the kona around for sure as my backup.

btw, just for a giggle i took the several inches of carbon composite shaft length that i'd cut off and smacked it hard--real hard--with a hammer: nothing. smacked it again, bracing myself for an even harder hit--nothing. five solid smacks with a hammer in the exact same place on the shaft finally yielded a crack--but peeps, that sort of abuse just is not going to happen on the water, or even in your garage or vehicle.

the cheapest credible paddle out there, easily modified to paddler's specific needs, and very durable--dad blast it, peeps, i'm changing my rating from four to five stars!
