One thing to be aware of if you plan on mixing this stuff in a shaker, it won't fully mix. It tastes good but you need a blender unless you want to be swallowing bits of grainy powder. But that is the case for most proteins so I won't dock any points for that.
1. Not all of the protein is whey.
2. It keeps you satisfied for longer so you don't go and snack in between meals.
3. It is extremely easy to blend, its all disolved within minutes.
4. It has glutamine added to aid with muscle recovery.
5. I don't get bloated or anything while taking this product.
I also want to thank the suppler Swanson Health Products for the fast shipping. I ordered this on a Friday, shipped on sunday, and recieved it on tuesday, 4 days before the estimated delivery time.
Here's the list of my picks for the best protein powders:
1)Muscle Pharm. Combat Powder Advanced Time Release Protein, Chocolate Milk, 4-Pound Tub
2)BSN Syntha-6 Protein Powder, Vanilla Ice Cream, 2.91 Pound
3)Gaspari Nutrition Myofusion Probiotic Series, Chocolate, 2 Pounds
4)Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Double Rich Chocolate, 5 Pound
5)BSN True-Mass, Chocolate Milkshake, 5.82 Pound
This protein powder has the best fat to protein ratio that I have found. A 34 gram scoop (the normal serving size) packs only 1.5 grams of fat and 25 grams of protein. I have been told my numerous sources that the body can only absorb up to 30 grams of protein at a time during a meal. One bodybuilder says he never takes more than that. I, on the other hand, am a well-wisher so I opt for two scoops right after a workout with a frozen berry, yogurt, and peanut butter smoothie. I must say, this protein powder is also delicious: it will make the taste of any smoothie better, and you'll feel like something is missing once you forget to put it in your smoothie.Read more ›
Update 01/16/2014: So after using this flavor for a week now I think the flavor is too strong to be drinking every single day. It doesn't taste natural and it tastes chemical-like... I've tried it both ways, with skim milk and with water and of course with milk it tastes better but the flavor is still a bit too strong... I will almost certainly be sick of the taste by the end of the 5 pound tub. I really only tried it(Cookies and Cream) because it was so cheap at Costco and unfortunately that is the only flavor they carry...
Also, Muscle Pharm seems to give me a ton of gas and makes me go to the bathroom (#2) throughout the day... I guess I'm one of the few who reacts to this product this way? Therefore I had to edit my original rating and deduct a star for these reasons...
I'm sure Muscle Pharm work really well for building lean muscle, but unfortunately it affects my bowels negatively and this particular flavor is a bit too much. It will be hard for me to work out if I have to take a dump all the time. =P
I may just go back to Optimum Nutrition Vanilla Ice Cream which is much much milder, doesn't taste chemical-like at all, doesn't upset my stomach, and most importantly I am still not sick of the ON taste and I've gone through multiple tubs of it!
