Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Wayne, holder of the Mr. World and other titles, has written a rather gritty and graphic behind-the-scenes account of the world of bodybuilding that picks up where Arnold Schwarzenneger's Pumping Iron left off. A native of St. Lucia, Wayne has been in bodybuilding for more than 20 years. He is well acquainted with superstars such as Schwarzenegger, Chris Dickerson, and Sergio Oliva, and gives some revealing glimpses of them. Wayne is a columnist for Joe Wieder's Muscle and Fitness magazine and thus involved in the ongoing ``muscle mag'' war between Wieder and the Bob Hoffman organizations. Bodybuilding fans will no doubt love this. The language is earthy. Recommended for larger collections. Howard E. Miller, St. Louis P.L.

Rick is from St. Lucia and so am i, but that has no bearing on this review. This book gives you a back stage pass as you see the struggles of bodybuilding. You can almost hear the thoughts of the body builders as they prepare to compete for the grand prize.
Rick does write with his unusual style and keeps you captivated. This book is a must read for the body building enthusiast as you look behind the scenes into a sport where champions dont always get treated fairly. buy any material from Rick Wayne because he will tell it like it is.

If you like Arnold, Sergio, Columbu, Sergio, Scott and other builders from Bodybuilding's so called "Golden Age", you will love this book. Rick Wayne is rare for a muscle writer. He can write well! This book is mostly about the The Mr. Olympia, starting with Larry Scott. There is a little bio material, but it's mostly about the Olympia and the men who fought for it. Wayne provides a VIP backstage pass view of the best bodybuilder's of the age. The 1980 & 81 debacles are covered well, with new insights. Written by a man who was there, and in the middle of it as it happened. Recommended reading for the 70 and 80's fans.

Rick Wayne is a fully entertaining writer. I waited years for this book to come on kindle and it was worth it. It was light-hearted, informative and included alot of great stories from that golden age of bodybuilding. You will enjoy this!
