Nero (actually Peter Chapek) collects 16 erotic j/o stories from sources like Drummer, Numbers, Mach, Honcho, and Advocate Men. Most date from the 1980s, when such work was considered instantly disposable even in the gay literary world. Now that stories like his are being collected and marketed in gay bookstores and superstores (including this online one), they merit a second look. Nero has a thing for bodybuilders, as do a lot of gay men. Titles like "Texas Tits" pretty much reveal what's to come. However, this isn't that different from what Flannery O'Connor was doing when she titled a story "Parker's Back," and meant the character's body part (which gets tattooed with a Byzantine-style Christ face). Of the stories here, my favorite is "Class of '75," about a high school reunion that brings two former athlete lovers back together--it has a shapely plot, nice secondary characters, and a point. Most of the others are hot, although Jack Fritscher does bodybuilding-themed gay porn better as a rule (he has a greater understanding of bodybuilders). We can thank Leyland Publications for issuing this book with a crackerjack front cover photo from Terry Studio. I would consider reading Nero's work again
