Mixed results, October 28, 2009

Yaron Herman is talented pianist who makes beautiful music BUT in spite of the very strong support from the excellent Matt Brewer on bass and Cleaver on drums, Yaron often comes short on energy, sounding a lot more like Eric Satie than Keith Jarret. This version of Isobel is a snore compared to the live one you can hear on You Tube, it has none of the drive. However there's enough excellent material that it makes this CD well worth buying. My favorite cuts are: Lamidbar, Joya, Twins, And the rain, Rina balle. The 30 second samplers are too short to really convey what the songs are like.
