NOTE: Also, review has been posted under Muse Mini Portable Speaker Silver Bluetooth on Amazon.

I purchased a black Muse Mini Portable Speaker with Bluetooth for $35 ($30 plus $5 shipping) through Half Off Depot (by way of Tippr) in April 2012. I had been looking for an affordable Bluetooth portable speaker solution for a long time and was excited to see this opportunity pop up. After checking out other reviews and YouTube videos demonstrating the sound, I decided to buy it.

I was impressed by the depth of the MuseMini sound. It really produced a high volume (even outside) and great non-distorted bass for a small pocket speaker. Plus, it was Bluetooth! It paired with all of my devices, including ones playing web-based services like Spotify. Although, it would only pair with one device at a time. If a different device was used, then a re-pair was required.

My family was so impressed by the little wonder that at least 5 more devices were ordered on their behalf in early June 2012.

Yet my device started malfunctioning in late June (i.e. 3 months later). It didn't even make it to Independence Day. It would turn off on its own. Also, I was unable to turn it back on right away. I tried to keep the speaker charged (particularly since I used it almost daily), but the speaker stopped functioning properly via the Bluetooth and On setting. The Bluetooth stopped pairing.

Amazon is selling this item through different sellers, so I can't critique how they would handle problems. I understand that product reviews should be focused on the product. Yet my reviews can be influenced how companies and manufacturers handle warranties, since I tend to use products for a long time if possible.

This is the first time I have ever been compelled to give a one star rating. When it works the unit sounds decent, though there has always been some background "electrical" noise. The problem is that the unit I purchased in July 2013 from a T-Mobile store will no longer hold more than 30 minutes of playback time charge as of October 2013. After 2 emails to Muse's "support" mailbox have gone unanswered I now feel the Muse company is as worthless as their product. Take your purchasing power elsewhere.

I stumbled on the Muse speaker while looking at the Jawbone Jambox. I just wanted a simple bluetooth speaker I could take to the beach and I was much more willing to spend $40 on one than $200.

I was very happy with what I got. The bang for the buck in undeniable. I use it daily now for an around the house speaker.

The one drawback is that there isn't a volume control on the speaker itself. Not a deal breaker but you will likely find that some songs would have sounded better on one of the "between" settings.

I don't know why but after I used the one I bought it stopped working after I used it 4 times. :(
Up until I really liked the sound and the sound level was ok, I actually thought it would have more volume than it did after reading all the reviews.

I came across this little speaker as a gift from my mobile phone provider (by buying the speaker, I got a free screen protector for the new phone). This little speaker has managed to impress me and become one of my favorite little gadgets around the house. I have it tucked away in a bookshelf and I can use my phone like a wireless remote to control the music from anywhere in my apartment. It does not have the same audiophile quality of sound as my big home theater system, but I can actually use this at night without annoying the neighbors. It's also great for work because you can just keep it in your pocket. If I could find a way to mount this to a bicycle, this would give me a great little sound system that's more than loud enough and safer than headphones in traffic.

The sound - while monaural and not audiophile quality - is clear, distortion free, and more than loud enough to fill up my 360 square foot studio apartment. The speaker is small and will fit anywhere. Battery life isn't too bad. I usually get 2-4 days of use on a charge depending on how much I use it. This is honestly good enough to replace a shop or garage radio because you can keep it with you. It's also useful for watching videos with your phone, as the built in speaker tends to be weak.

I gave it five four stars for it's portability and sound quality, but it isn't quite perfect. My biggest gripe: the charging cable. It plugs into any USB power source, but the connection into the speaker itself is a small, round power connector. I would much rather have this be a micro USB port (or even mini USB). That way if the cable is lost or I want a longer one, it's not the end of the world trying to find a new one.

Totally useless after just a few uses. I was originally impressed by the sound quality, but now nothing about the speaker works...
- will not charge, must be plugged in via USB to get any functionality at all
- bluetooth will not turn on and will not sync
- plugging in the audio cable causes a persistent "swipe" sound to come from the speaker.
- the output device (mac, in my case) can be heard if the audio cable is plugged in, but sound is tinny and must compete with the "swipe" sound. Useless.
