5.0 out of 5 stars Great product! Great Buy!, September 5, 2008

I bought two since I have two children in music (beginning band and beginning orchestra). The price is great. The teachers suggested 3 metronome/tuners. I originally bought the mid-priced one but promptly returned it when it arrived because it did not have a tuning clip. This has it all. The shipper even included cleaning cloths. Way to go the extra mile! It is simple to use and does the job.

I purchased this metronome/tuner for one of my fourth-grade students, whom I teach to play guitar after school. Her family is very low income, so my top priority was to get both functions in one portable, inexpensive little box.

And that is exactly what I got! It's not fancy, it may not last forever--especially the flimsy plastic stand on the back--but it does the job for a nice price. It has a chromatic tuner and pretty versatile metronome (beep type) that can subdivide many ways or just give a steady beat. I can tell the difference it has made in my student's playing, which is now more steady and confident.

It was a little confusing at first because it turns on in metronome mode; I would have wanted tuner mode to be the default since that's what we always use first. Switching between metronome and tuner modes took some trial and error, though mostly because my student didn't realize the instructions were on the cardboard backing of the package and had already thrown it away.

Comes ready to use with batteries and a contact mic included (1/4" jack, so it can accommodate electric guitars, too).

It works as advised. Compact, light and functional. I prefer it over the other one I have (Korg).

5.0 out of 5 stars Swiss Army knife of tuner-metros, March 7, 2011

Let's keep this simple. For a very low price you get:

- Metronome functions with speaker and headphone beeps in quarter notes as well as several subdivisions and combinations (eighth, sixteenths, triplets, and rhythm combinations such as dotted eighth/sixteenths and more.)

- Metronome beats for measures of 5, 4, 3, 2, and others with the first beat highlighted by a different pitch and lighted display.

- Tuner functions (through a built in microphone) for a full octave of pitches with a meter-type display that also has lighted alerts. Tuning can be adjusted from A= 435-445 Hz.

- An audible pitch pipe function with analog volume wheel.

- AND guitar tuning capability via the (included) acoustic clip-on sensor or by plugging in your electric guitar through the 1/4" jack.

If you're a working musician (or a student) on a limited budget, this is for you! Just buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Musedo Metro-Tuner MT-30, November 13, 2011

I was principally shopping for a metronome, and I was between this and similar-looking Korg models. I ultimately chose the Metro-tuner because of its multi-functionality (metronome, tuner, reference tone generator) and good price. It doesn't seem rock-solid (few things are, esp. at this price point), and the feature navigation can be annoying (shared buttons, no direct switch between functions), but it's still a nice and convenient little device, and not bad at all for the price. I also like that it uses readily-available AAA batteries. Light use for the better part of a year, and it has worked just fine. I would recommend it.

I've uploaded a video because I thought it'd be helpful to see the feature navigation and performance before you make your decision. My package included a tuning clip with 1/4" input; a nice extra, though I don't use it, and it's not in the video.

I hope this helps with your decision.

I needed a tuner and metronome for my viola. This was one of the cheapest I could find but it works great! I like that it has a "cheat sheet" on it for the metronome, and also comes with a headphone jack in case you are playing too loud to hear the beeps. The tuner is also great, not super finicky like some, where it never seems to find the right pitch. It works really well. Definitely no need to spend more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice metronome/tuner!, December 16, 2010

I really like this metronome and tuner. I just received it a few days ago and it seems pretty durable. Another reviewer had commented on the flip-out stand, and I agree it may fall off if used excessively. But for around 15 dollars this is a good one. It divides time into quarter notes, 8th notes, triplets, 16th notes, dotted 8th note, 8th note followed by two 16th notes, and finally two 16th notes followed by one 8th note. The tuner is pretty nice as well, I haven't messed around with it too much, but it appears that you can choose to tune to 440hz or 441hz.
