Fantastic, even for babies under one year,

Although I have no children myself, I have given this book to several new parents and have repeatedly been told that the book is a favorite. My nephew selected it repeatedly out of a collection of 20-30 books and loved to have it read to him. He was 11 months old when I last visited and saw him go crazy over it. Kids love the bright colors. Parents love the sturdy cardboard pages that clean easily and the fact that the book contains famous artwork. Too bad I see that it is out of print. I highly recommend this one, especially as a gift.

the picture in the advertisement is for the book from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The book I received is the board book from the Museum of fine Arts in Boston. I wanted the book that matches the picture, not the one I received.
I have the other 3 in the series by the Metropolitan Museum of New York and they are great. I'm sure this one is too if I could get it.

Excellent, stimulating book for 1 to 3 year olds,

An excellent choice for children 1 to 3 years old. Ones can turn the sturdy pages easily because of the book's indexed design. It is a perfect size for a one-year old to hold and manipulate (not too small). As each color is introduced, a simple drawing is paired with a painting, inviting the child to examine the artwork and look for similarities between the painting and the drawing. The summary page at the end lets the child see all the pictures at once, and enjoy the challenge of naming all the colors. A favorite birthday gift for Ones and Twos, and a wonderful introduction to looking at art.
