Great soap to wash your face and beard before shaving.
Mark Twain
It has glycerin, which makes your face extremely slick and improves the performance of whatever shaving cream or soap you use.
Isaac E. Schwoch
It smells nice, feels good, and contributes to a great shave.

As noted in another review, this soap is NOT a shaving soap: it won't lather, for one thing. It is a PRE-shave soap: wash your beard with this, rinse, then lather up with a shaving soap or a shaving cream or---if you must---squirt some shaving foam out of a can (not recommended: it's too dry).

I've been using MR GLO (Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil soap) for several years, as the first step of my shave at the sink, after showering. Wash beard with MR GLO, rinse, and then work up a lather (NOT with MR GLO) and apply it to my wet beard: the first step toward a pleasurable shave.

Highly recommended.

The other reviewer made a mistake here; this is not a shaving soap, it's a pre-shave soap; that is, you're meant to wash your face with it, then rinse, and THEN use a shaving cream or soap. This is not for lathering in a mug. What it DOES do is clean your face and prepare your beard so that your shaving cream or soap will be more effective; in this regard it is excellent, and you should try it; it lasts forever as well.

I have always loved glycerin soaps for a clean feeling with just enough oils so that you don't feel dried out or greasy. This is one of the best. I use it before shaving with a straight razor to clean and prepare my skin and whiskers as well as to give my skin a little additional lubrication. It is by no means an oily soap nor does it leave a greasy residue. I still use shave oil. I just notice that my shaves are a little nicer when I don't skip this step.

It smells nice, feels good, and contributes to a great shave. It is not very expensive and last a very long time. Musco Real is the real thing. I love it and even turned my daughter on to it for shaving her legs.

I've waited almost a month after purchasing this product to give a good full review.
NOTE: This is a PRE-shave soap.

HOW TO USE: Wash your face. Then Apply Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap. This is a Glyce Soap so it'll leave a slick residue on whatever you apply it to (Thus, I use a washcloth especially for this soap, so my hands don't get slick) Rub the Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap into the area(s) you're going to be shaving. Give it at least a 45sec-1m30sec rub-in for the Lime to work it's magic (soften hairs). Rinse the lather away but not to vigorously. You want to keep the slick (I don't dry the parts I used the soap a towel will take most of the glyce away.

UPON OPENING:
Dimensions: 2in 3/4ths diameter. 1in 1/4ths deep.
Easy to unwrap and has a pleasant Citrus-Zesty aroma (that doesn't travel too far.) *Note it's more like Lime Zest than a Lime Juice smell.
The Soap is almost a hard gummy texture and Visually as you'd expect from the picture-- a tad more translucent.

THE SHAVE:
I've used Proraso's soap and Col'Conks soaps with this. Both of which have the same effect from the PRE-Shave Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap. The hairs on the 1st pass are a tad noticeably cut easier. Also, the glide from the Glyce gives a noticeable cushion. The 2nd and 3rd pass -- The effect goes back to a standards (no PRE-shave soap applied) feel. The Lime smell has completely gone after the shave.

The soap seems to work better on a 2-3day beard growth. And not so much on a next day shave.

CONCLUSION:
If you want to get that 1st pass perfect; this is a PERFECT product to buy.

I use this as a face prep/cleanser for wetshaving. This is a glycerin soap, and the scent has a nice, fresh smell. Make a thin lather with a brush or face lather with the soap, and do a quick water splash to rinse it off before starting to lather with your favorite cream or shaving soap.

Great soap to wash your face and beard before shaving. Great fresh smell will definitely wake you up. It'll leave your skin and beard nicely hydrated. Rinse and then add some quality shaving soap or cream with a good brush. Your morning can't start any better.

I don't notice anything incredibly different if I have or haven't used this soap before shaving. I feel like it does a good job, but it doesn't obviously stand out as great. I plan to get a cheaper glycerin based soap next time.

Shaved for a few weeks without any pre shave soap (only a shower before). Could easily tell a difference on the first use of this. Smoother shave, no nicks, and almost no irritation. Awesome product, will buy again
