mind-bogglingly great,

This album was out of print for years. That it's available again should be cause for great rejoicing. It was one of the very best albums of the 90s. Not just one of the best punk albums - the best albums, period. This band has it all, great musicianship, clever lyrics, catchy melodies, and fierce full-on punk drive. On top of all that they have one of the very best punk singers ever in Frankie Stubbs. He carries a tune, while sounding as though he's pouring his guts out on every song. Sometimes it sounds as though he's running a genuine risk of spraying fragments of esophagus at the microphone. Get this if you have any taste for punk rock at all. Then get "Horsebox", the first full-length from the revived Leatherface. It's almost as good as "Mush" is.

If you only buy one Leatherface release....,

I can't believe nobody has rated this so here goes. This is their best album. Melodic thrashing punk made utterly original by hoarser than hoarse lead singer Stubbs. While his voice may take some getting used to, it is the best thing about this band. To call this revivalist punk is a disservice. I was at plenty of early Minor Threat, DKs, and Bad Brains shows (translation: I am old)and this is one of the few post-1985 punk records that stands on its own merits with no nostalgia involved. Unavailable for many years and now only $15.99 - it'll be the best money you ever spent.

I didn't realized that this was rereleased! The best hardcore album ever made. Don't be put off by just listening to the samples. It takes a couple of listens to kick your ass. And kick your ass it will. Get it before it gets lost again!

Lost this CD somewhere along the way and happy to see it is available, if nominally. This is far and away the best Leatherface record, top 5 punk rock, and certainly top 50 rock of all time. Frankie Stubbs smoke crusted and liquor aged voice is at once sad and angry. The lyrics on this record are sheer poetry. The drums, guitars and bass driving. If I were to have tolive on an solitary on island, with only one record, this would be the one!

Punk Perfection,

This is one of my favorite albums of all time by any band in any genre.Mush is one of those albums when everything came together right, the sound, the playing but above all else the songs themselves.Yes they've been labeled "punk" but by the time they put this gem out they had added other elements to their sound that punk alone just doesn't cover.A more thought out approach and less frantic then the first two releases(which are classics also)it's a more balanced yet no less powerful effort.I don't know who Leatherface sound like, some people liken Frankie stubbs gruff vocals to lemmys(motorhead),not necessarily though it gives somewhat of an idea, one thing i do know is there are no bogus tracks here, not by a long way.Enjoy!

THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME OR SUE ME,

Forget Green Day, Hot Water Music, Jawbreaker, etc
It was Leatherface in the early 90's that inspired all those little teeny american groups which are NOT punk (EMO???? what does that mean). How come Green Day are one of the biggest groups in the world whilst nobody has heard of Leatherface? Leatherface are unknown because they are from north east of England not West coast of USA. Buy "Mush" or "Horsebox" by Leatherface. THEY'LL BLOW YOU AWAY - PROMISE!!!! |
