.....from one of the best DJ's in the world. The track selection is creative and flawlessly mixed. I cannot understand what people found so distasteful about track 8 - make me happy- I loved it , and the soulful vocals. I also thought the jazz theme was more than present. Perhaps others did not like this type of music , because they didn't understand what they were purchasing. If you like down tempo house , acid jazz , or great DJ mixes , this is a MUST have. I have this CD on my hard drive , and it's one of 2(Sasha @ Ibiza) that have this priviledge. No weak tracks here folks , no faves to single out , just load it up and enjoy.

This is definitely worth checking out. you just lay back, pop it in and let it flow. It takes you on a journey through ill beats and thick jazzy baselines. If you like funky/jazzy hip-hop or acid jazz you'll like this cd.-peace

Lounge at its best,

This was the first acid jazz cd I bought and is still one of my favorites. I'm a fan of the lounge style of music and for me this is it. If your looking for upbeat dance, keep looking - but if your looking for some late night chill put this on and close your eyes.

Acid jazz chill'n,

After nearly ten years I have been giving this disc some more air on my I-Pod to find it still soothing and fresh. The beatz are slow, funky, mid-tempo grooves, perfect for after hours, like after work or a night out, or anytime to change the tempo and slow life down a bit. One of the better mixes in the mushroon series, the music is a seemless groove that sounds like one continous song; over an hours worth of cool music to chill to. It might best be described as acid jazz that features soul and jazz elements to a slow fuinky dance beat. Layers and layers of music stirred together for a tasty musical stew where one groove doesn't dominate but rather they blend perfectly. At times the mixed voices echo in and out and create a nice psychedelic-soul-jazz effect. The tempo changes ever so slowly, never dramatically where you would say, hey, where in the heck did that come from or that doesn't fit. Very cool vibes for chill'n on a summer day any time, any day, any year. Recommended for chill heads who like their down-tempo in a acid jazz groove.

A real pride for the true Downtempo Headz...,

Farina introduced me to deep house music 5 years ago with San Francisco Sessions. In 2002 I discovered the Mushroom jazz series, and all I can say is that Mushroom Jazz is my best experience of all time in music...Farina is the only man able to create this kind of atmosphere, very deep, very smart and urban, sometimes strange, sometimes "innocent". The man is the only able to select downtempo/deep jazzy house/hiphop tracks with so much taste...the only man who has made me dream so many times with a mixed comilation. People... I'm not joking...Mushroom Jazz is a real phenomena, an absolute masterpiece, words are not enough to describe dis. There is absolutely nothin' to dislike in this downtempo concept...even the artworks are marvellous... Well, Mushroom Jazz Vol. 2 is, in my opinion, the most perfect MJ. The track selection is mind-blowing, all the tracks connect themselves with a brilliant facility thanks to the intelligent concept of Mark which consists of puttin' slightly and discreetly some accapellas which appear sometimes on another part of the mix. Excellent! It gives to the mix a higher level. The tracks? more downtempo than MJ5 or even MJ4. Tracks are very jazzy like "Sandworms", "Then Came U", they can be a bit darker with "Made In The shade" (bewitchin' track!), or more "friendly" and "innocent" like "How sweet it is", they can include acoustic guitars with L-Fudge, or they can plunge us into a strange atmosphere with "Sunday Night" for example. ______________________________________________________________ To sum up, Mushroom Jazz 2 is an essential mix. A very strong cohesion between the tracks, a perfect selection (of urban and jazzy tracks), a genious mix, one of the best concept of all time for the deephouse and downtempo/hiphop generation. Thank you Mark Farina.

Just never seems to get old...,

This CD is great. The music is, for the most part, some of the best I have heard, it even includes a track by Mr. Scruff! Good mixture of hip hop and jazz that is mixed impeccably, the songs are integrated beautifully. Only 4 stars because of some annoying tracks, namely "Make Me Happy" (which makes me want to pour acid in my ears) and "If I Fall". Other than that it is pure jazz and hip hop sounds. Great CD.

GET HYPED!,

This mix is totally sinful. What it really bores down to is that Mark Farina is spoiling us. Yeah, another deadly blend, another smooth ride, here we go again. "Mushroom Jazz 2" promises to keep the series alive with wonderful melody. Everyone who chances this will be reminded of "that time when..." Personally, it takes me back to the Late Nite Sessions at the Ministry of Sound in London. Remember those? They were the parties after the parties where you could keep a natural high going all nite. True that! On another note Farina features some real fine tracks here. Check out,"That Time of Day by Jaywalkers", "Poppy's Song by Big Muff", and "Make Me Happy by Cooly's Hot Box". Sample any of these tracks but you will only tease yourself. In order to keep that high I suggest you put this one in your virtual shopping cart. As we say in N.Carolina,"This is off the heezies!"Watson

Best of the Mushroom Jazz series,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mushroom Jazz 2 (Audio CD)
I've been a fan and friend of Mark Farina's for years now, and it goes without saying that anything with Mark's name on it is golden, whether it be house or downtempo, he knows what he's doing. The mixing on this alubm is impeccable, but that goes without saying. What makes Mushroom Jazz stand out from both MJ1 and MJ3 is the track selection, which includes some of the best downtempo tracks I have heard to date. Mark's composition of these tracks, as well as his use of a sampler, makes for a seamless, flowing mix that is unrivaled by any other. If, for some reason, you do not have this album, please buy it, you are doing yourself a disservice without it.

This is one of those types of CDs that is a must have for driving long distances. I say that because it will make the time do one of two things: stand still or fly by. In a word, this CD is - "groovy". From start to finish I always get lost in the groove. The track selection is great, and the transitions are flawless. There aren't any favorite tracks here for me, simply because they fit just nicely. This would make a great purchase...and pay no attention to the age of the CD. Some things are just timeless!

smooth, sexy, and relaxing,
This review is from: Mushroom Jazz 2 (Audio CD)
After listening to the first Mushroom Jazz, getting the 2nd volume in the series was a no brainer. I would say the mixing is a lot better in this set, but doesn't beat the overall quality of the first one. What is fascinating about Farina is his mixes do not sound dated and they are timeless in my opinion. A lot of the mainstream electronic music sounds ghetto when you listen to it years later, but Farina's style is fresh and there isn't the slightest hint of aging to his musical compositions. Also don't make the mistake of importing this set to your computer in separate tracks like I did. It totally ruined the continuity of the mix and the pauses in between tracks can be a serious mood killer. It took me almost a year to warm up to Farina's work and once it clicked there was no turning back.
