The first song volume is lower than the rest, so I have to turn it up, and then other songs down. Needs better producing.

I love this cd for yoga. It has a nice beat to it and isnt distracting from concentration during practice. I particularly like Katyias Dance. It is a piece sticks with you long after its over.

Does What it's Supposed to do for Your Yoga Practice,
By Sean Michael McLaughlin (Lansing, Michigan, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Music for Active Yoga Vol. 3-YOGAFIT (Audio CD)
I have three copies of this CD, bought one and received the other two compliments of YogaFit, and I'm glad I have that many. "Music for Active Yoga Volume 3," or "Active Yoga 3" for short, is a session-structuring tool. It can be used for a beginner (Level 1*, intermediate (Level 2)*, or advanced session (Level 3)* where the session facilitator/instructor uses the track lengths for pacing.
For example, I teach a Level 1 class 1x week in the Community Yoga movement (i.e., free Yoga to anyone that is accessible to everybody and every body for greater community health) and have a daily practice of a Level 3 in the morning and and Level 2 in the evening. With all three sessions, track #1 is a tune-in/standing meditation sequence that allows myself and participants 3+ minutes of nasal breathing to warm up the body as well as to create sacred space by creating a clear bookend for transitioning from world to Yoga practice. It is also in this time I do an eye-closed survey for possible injuries and remind myself and participants of the seven principles of the YogaFit Essence (breathing, feeling, listening to the body, letting go of competition, letting go of judgement, letting go of expectations, and staying in the present moment). When track #2 comes about, there's a clear shift in tempo and we move into warm-ups. In my personal practice half way through this track, I want to be on the ground in Down Dog doing heel presses. With the group, I don't feel we need to be there till track #3. Moving forward track #11, "Angels Voice," is very gentle, soothing, and approximately 10% of the time of the class making it a perfect length for final relaxation. If I don't need all the tracks, then I skip to this one as I can avoid watch-gazing or short changing Shavasna (a perennial bane in the Yoga practice, we say it's the most important so why only 2-3 minutes?). When it moves to track #12, I bring myself and participants back with the other bookend of meditation to transition back into the world. The CD is a tool for session-structuring, whether you've got a clear idea or not on what you're going to do. We all have only so much time and this must be honored, so the CD lets you do that in a more subtle and sublime manner. This has been my experience and my co-participants enjoy the practice as well. * = This level system comes from Mark Stephen's excellent book "Teaching Yoga: Essential Foundations and Techniques" and isn't to be confused with the YogaFit training levels.
