This review is from: The Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim (Paperback)
Most of these arrangements have sections that seem to be fairly accurate transcriptions of Jobim's solo performances of the tunes. It's a good intro to bossa nova for a pianist who needs "little black dots" to tell them how to voice chord changes. My one complaint is that it seems to be more geared towards the bad translations(English translations of Brazilian Portuguese lyrics are always "bad" translations--if you want to sing Brazilian music, learn enough Portuguese to sing it with feeling). That being said, I must say that the original lyrics are present, even if they are in italics, but don't count on the English lyrics giving you even a vague idea of what the song is originally about. All in all, having this book in my collection is well worth the little I spent on it.
