About the Author

Roger Kamien received his B.A. in Musicology from Columbia and his M.A. and PhD. from Princeton. Kamien taught for 2 years at Hunter College and for 20 years at Queens College, where he coordinated the music appreciation courses. In 1983, he was appointed to the Zubin Mehta Chair in Musicology at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In addition to Music: An Appreciation, Prof. Kamien has written numerous articles and reviews, co-wrote A New Approach to Keyboard Harmony, and edited the Norton Scores. He is an accomplished pianist and, in recent years, has formed a two-piano team with his wife, Anita.

I purchased this 5 CD set as required for school. The price was great and the shipping was prompt. The problem is with the discs. They are labeled correctly, but the content is wrong. Disc 1 and 5 are the same. Disc 2 and 4 are the same. So essentially, I didnt get CD's 2 and 5. As a result I will likely not pass the course or be forced to drop.. Thanks for the great "deal"..

The CD set was amazing to listen to. I love the quality and variety of the different genres. I would have loved to have kept the set, unfortunately, the manufacturer duplicated two of the CD's which meant an entire CD did not contain the music stated. I contacted the manufacturer, exchanged the item for another and found it was also the same. Unfortunately, Amazon, got a shipment of erred product. When they fix the problem...I would love to have this set.
