Book Description

Iannis Xenakis June 30, 2008
This important work fills a major lacuna in the literature by bringing together, for the first time, all the texts relating to architecture by the multi-faceted Xenakis, who worked with Le Corbusier for 12 years. Sharon Kanach assisted the composer in gathering the texts for this, his last ambitious project. Her commentary throughout the book seeks to bridge the reciprocal influences between music and architecture in the Xenakis oeuvre.
The volume is organized into four main subject headings: The Le Corbusier Years, Xenakis as Independent Architect, Writings on Architecture, and The Polytopes. Three major appendices comprise: An up-to-date and annotated bibliography of writings by and on Xenakis by Makis Solomos; a critical index of Xenakis's architecture by Sven Sterken; and a comparative chronology of Xenakis's life and work by Sharon Kanach.

5.0 out of 5 stars What?, December 17, 2011
This review is from: Music and Architecture (Iannis Xenakis) (Hardcover)
I'm not sure which book PigBoy is looking at, but it can't possibly be Music and Architecture! This book, which I have in front of me, is a beautiful publication, containing valuable photos or sketches on almost every page. Most of this material has not been seen before, I believe. For anyone interested in Xenakis and his architectural and multimedia work, there is no more important book. Sharon Kanach and Pendragon have done excellent work to bring this publication out, in hardcover, for such a reasonable price.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Music and Architecture (Iannis Xenakis) (Hardcover)
Let me be direct: DO NOT, under any circumstances, waste your money on this book. Badly pixalated images, cheap binding and cheaper paper, and fuzzy scans--all this for a mere $45! The fact that someone at the publishing company knowingly let this out of the print shop and into the marketplace is truly remarkable. Seriously folks, this is the most amateurish printing I've ever seen. A huge disappointment.
