Get to that! The invention, the grasp of large-scale form, the inevitability of the transitions,the sense of tension and release...no wonder masters like Ligeti have been fascinated with this music. And this is one of the great masterpieces - I will say of music in general. Hyperbole? Not for me. This ain't no cultural artifact - no piece of "ethnomusicology". This is great music, pure and (not so) simple!
