GREAT ENTRY LEVEL BOOK,
By Gian Fiero (Los Angeles, California) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Music Business 101:For Aspiring Producers, Writers, Musicians, Singers, And Future Record Moguls (Perfect Paperback)
Unlike many of the entry level books that now saturate the market and profess to offer advice on "how to succeed" in the music business, this book focusses on how the music business works. Written with a surprising blend of simplicity and sophistication that is greatly enhanced by the clean layout and clever use of graphics, it's a quick-read that can be used to help young, new or inexperienced music artists and professionals to define terms, learn the language of the business, understand all aspects of music industry operations, and the roles of the individuals who make it work. An absolutely fabulous must have reference book for those just starting out.

The ideal source,

This review is from: Music Business 101:For Aspiring Producers, Writers, Musicians, Singers, And Future Record Moguls (Perfect Paperback)
It's truly amazing the amount of information inside this 190 page book. Being relatively new to the business side of music this book has been the ideal source for me. It covers every topic from simply getting started to maintaining a successful company.
My favorite thing about the book is the wording. The author doesn't make it hard to understand like many other books I've read. It's almost like your talking to a friend who has a great deal of knowledge on the ins & outs of music. I keep a copy of it everywhere I go and refer back to it time & time again. I believe anyone doing music will do the same!

This book is a great insite to those who need to know more about the buisness. I would refer all to buy this book that doesn't cost much to invest in their future.

Average,

A "101" guide is supposed to bee a guide that takes you from the ground up to the top of the pyramid with relative ease and by showing you all the steps that you need to take to ensure success. This book follows this pyramidal method of explaining things and takes it to another level by adding crucial information along every step of the way, thus insuring success. A good book, revealing, but not as good as "The Music Business: How YOU can make $500,000 "or more" a year in the music industry by Doing it Yourself!" By Ty Cohen, a title that follows the same principle but makes it better.
