4.0 out of 5 stars Great music, but too short.
All in all, this is a great album - but there are a couple of critiques - namely the fact that no, there aren't any Hanukkah songs. The second critique is that at 28 minutes, it's over pretty soon.

The Christmas song by the Ravenettes is a pretty little starter; Last Christmas is a great cover of the Wham cover by Jimmy Eat World. Just like Christmas is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Chrismukkah is a time for music
Well good CD. As a casual observer of the show (my wife loves it) I found my feet tapping to both Chrismakkuh shows, and the CD lets you take a slice home with you.

But there was a notable omission that I had to go looking for. It is performed/named "Guster - Carol of Meows". No Chrismakkuh should be without this song, and it was a great let down that it...

Just like Christmas is soulful, poignant song about travelling. I thought Christmas is Going to the Dogs was kind of hoaky and annoying (by the Eels), but the Ron Sexsmith and Leona Naess songs at the end got this CD back in my good books.

Still, it's a nice shift from most of the pop junk out there. For someone who doesn't enjoy Mariah Carey singing about what she wants for Christmas, but would like a few modern songs to mix in with the traditional stuff, this is the best modern Christmas CD I've found yet.

Also, the CD has a CD-Rom feature that links you to a website where you can watch clips from the show and hear people talking about the music. While the Christmas clips weren't up yet, it's probably just because the episode hasn't aired yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Non-Traditional, December 11, 2004
This review is from: Music From the O.C. Mix 3: Have a Very Merry Chrismukkah (Audio CD)
If your looking for a non-traditional Christmas album, then this is a CD for you. I have always had a wide variety for music, but have never really been a huge rock fan. I loved this CD from the minute I popped it in, I knew I could listen to this music over and over and put a different spin on things. I actually felt inspired and pumped up by this music. For someone who usually prefers traditional, I just might start a new christmas trend. I do like The O.C. but you don't have to be an O.C. Fan to enjoy this CD. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming holiday cd., August 26, 2005
This review is from: Music From the O.C. Mix 3: Have a Very Merry Chrismukkah (Audio CD)
Okay,at a mere 28 minutes long, this album is easy to criticize. However, that excepted, this is still a good album. It's charming and conjures up happy holiday thoughts.I think it's worth it just for the song "Maybe this Christmas".

2.0 out of 5 stars Maybe This Christmas Tree is a bit better, November 13, 2004

I have enjoyed the two other Mixes but this one is a little boring. I just bought "Maybe This Christmas Tree," which has Death Cab For Cutie, Polyphonic Spree, Raveonettes, Pedro The Lion yadda yadda and I just think that holiday cd is much better.

With the exception of Jimmy Eat World's "Last Christmas", which is quite fun, this album is pretty boring.

2.0 out of 5 stars Call it "Christmas at the Cohens" -- Only One Hanukka Song!!, November 3, 2004
This review is from: Music From the O.C. Mix 3: Have a Very Merry Chrismukkah (Audio CD)
This compilation could be much cooler -- if it lived up to it's name. Instead, there is only one Hanukka song on the whole thing -- which is very weak if you ask this 1/2Christian 1/2 Jew

Way to be LAZY, whomever put this comp. together is lame and didn't do their homework -- there are plenty of great Jewish songs to cover, and plenty of Jewish Indie-Rock people to cover them -- ask Ben Kweller to name a few!
