4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Visit to China. Enjoy your Passport.
The other reviewer and I are eons apart. Having just returned from two trips to China during the period of 3/30/01 to 7/15/01, I have heard Chinese music (Also went to Hong Kong for Christmas 1995). This is enjoyable music with clear, lively sounds.

1.0 out of 5 stars Muzac of China
The music on this CD has lost all of its original Asian influence and unfortunately sounds more like the music played on a merry-go-round. I was very disappointed that this CD is more of an interpetation of someone's idea of what Chinese music sounds like, than actual Chinese music.

I am not a purist. I know good music and have played this CD at least 10 times. One does not require authentic instruments to have national music played well. The sound should be clear, songs real and music enjoyable. 10 tracks including Dance of the Children and Beautiful Morning. People hear differently. I enjoy these songs and the eight others.

Sadly we don't learn the artists and there are no detailed liner notes. This follows the pattern of other similar Chinese music CDs. However, how many follow the score during a concert or when listening to enjoyable music?
