A very good music text,
By R. Bagula "Roger L. Bagula" (Lakeside, Ca United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Music Cultures of the Pacific, the Near East and Asia (Prentice Hall History of Music Series) (Paperback)
I could wish that the scores had been done better, but the text gives you a better feel for music cultures that are truly unique. The pictures of the instruments is a real help. The west seems to be really only ahead in mechanical reproduction of music, not instrumentation of even music theory. Indian music has a very wide theory and long tradition. |
