Well after all these years, Madonna remains the trendsetter she's always been, in music and fashion. Coming back after the immensely successful Ray Of Light, Madonna introduces retro-funk electronic music & hip-hop all fused into one song titled Music, the first single off her widely anticipated new album of the same name. The beats are so tight that with every listen u just wanna shake ur bon-bons... With a in-ya-face video to go along, this is certainly & easily one of the year's best. Listen to the array of remixes from various underground deejays and artists. On here is the non-album track Cyberraga which is a mysterious track not unlike Has To Be from the Ray Of Light single. A collaboration with Talvin Singh who last remixed Madonna's Nothing Really Matters.

When this single first leaked out on the Net, people were quick to say that it was the end of Madonna's career and that 'Music', the single and album would sink without a trace. Now that the single has been the US No. 1 for 4 weeks in a row, and now that the 'Music' album has debuted at No. 1 on the US and UK album chart, we can quietly brush aside the views of those naive fools, and get down to the music. And what a song it is.

For those of you with cash to spare, dont hesitate in getting the Maxi-CD single of this song. It contains over 72 MINUTES of music, and is quite a bargain for the price.

This CD single also contains the infamous Sanskrit song only available in Japanese editions (whats with it with Madonna and Japan? The Ray of Light album in Japan had one extra track not seen in the US called 'Has to be'). Here are the lyrics to 'Cyberraga', which you most likely will find only on amazon.com :

It contains 'Music', of course & B-Side, 'Cyber-raga'. It is a great track & sounds like 'Shanghti/Ashanti' from her great-selling album, 'Ray Of Light', which was by far (& still is) madonna's best album. I can not understand what (the hell) she is saying in this song but it's good. You will or should, find lyrics to this song on amazon, or somewhere else. You will also find the English Transilation. Why, you ask? For the Deep Dish US Remix. These are all available on CD's, not Cassets(...)

The "Music" single is a return to Madonna's club roots. It's hard, electronic, and fast-paced. It's a FUN dance song that has simple lyrics and astounding music. There are no heavy or weighty messages to consider (yes, the song actually has the word "bourgeoisie" in it, but that just adds to the fun nature of this song). Madonna invites us to have a good time and "boogie woogie". But, the musical score isn't compromised because of the simplicity of the lyrics. The music is funky, refreshingly different from many of the pop songs we are currently hearing, and further merges the pop and electronica worlds together. The musical score is comprised of heavy bass beats, electronic keyboards, vocoders (think of Cher's voice in "Believe"), and the musicalization of Madonna's vocals in the end: "Would you like to boogie woogie?" and "Acid Rock". It's great that her vocals in the end sound like musical notes. If the "Music" single is an indication of what's to come September 19, 2000 when her MUSIC album comes out, then I'll be very happy and pleased.

Oh My GAWD!! I love this song more than life itself!! I'm so hopelessly adicted...EVERY morning...this single turns on on my stereo.."Hey Mr Dj. Put a Record on..." I love Madonna's new sound with Mirwais! Mirwais is a fantastic artist himself, and he REALLY does a fantastic job on this track! I've managed to hear the upcoming album "MUSIC" in it's entirety...and you're all in for a couple surprises, and a lot of fun! The B-Side "Cyberraga" was produced/Co-written by another of my favorite artists Talvin Singh!! Talvin makes awesome electronica music with heavy influences from Indian culture! The track itself is slightly similar to "Ray Of Light"'s "Shati/Ashtangi" only more futuristic, harmonious, and Talvin Singh-ish! This single is fantastic! The photos, and design is great as well!! I love her Cyber Cowgirl image!! Buy this single!! A real piece of fun, innovative pop at it's best!!

This CD contains 2 songs, Madonna's Music the album version, which is quite nice to have if you've bought the remixes. I was very anxious to listen to the 2nd second and as Madonna opened her mouth, I was AWED! I am not sure of the language yet, but she did it again, signing in what might be Sanskrit. The song has a sutle tune of various eastern-indian instruments, and madonna's voice and the words she utter are enchanting, there is a constant electronic beat throughout the song. Nice song. I don't think this song sounds anything like Shanti/Ashtangi, expect for bieng madonna's second Sanskrit song. So maybe Madonna never gave up on the religious look afterall, or maybe she's doing both now!

One of the best singles I have bought this year...Madonna rocks anyone with this song! There is no way to stay stopped!

For me this is the sound of the next century!

You should also buy the album Music...do I need to say anything else??

[...] I have the version of Music that I was looking for and just wanted to tell you the DEEP DISH US MIX EDIT hardly changed/changes from the original mix edit! Oh well!

This is the US casette (sp?). The UK casette (our tape) includes an exclusive slow remix of MUSIC by Groove Armada, mostly famous for 'I SEE YOU BABY, SHAKIN' THAT ASS...!'

The reason I buy singles is to get all the non-album tracks that they include. "Music" is a great example. The non-album song, "Cyberraga" is in Sanskrit (like "Shanti/Ashtangi" on "Ray of Light"). It is not very "Music"-like, and the fact that it is in Sanskrit make it more "Ray of Light"-ish.

Oh my God! I first got introduced to Madonna with her Bedtime Stories album which I thought was alright, but not the best. I then bought her "Ray of Light" album, and totally loved it. The mix of catchy pop lyrics and techno background really blew me away. It was so unique and fresh. The only fault I had with that album was that it should have had a bit more of the songs like "Ray of Light". You know, the dance tunes that make you want to boogie woogie all night long. Well, as soon as I first heard "Music" on the net, I knew I was listening to a huge hit. The funky beat mixed with the electronic background, and Madonna's voice, naked and on Vocoder, made me start to dance right where I was. I looooove this song. The maxi-single is good as well, but none of the songs really compare in uniqueness to the original. Cyberraga is also a really great song, even though I can't understand a word she's saying, the music is great. I love the bass on this album. It's so cool. I can't wait to hear what else Madonna has in store for us with the next songs she releases after Music is done.
