Music To Disappear In II, released in 1991, is just shy of an hour long and is a logical extension of pianist-composer Raphael's Music To Disappear In. Once again utilizing the piano and keyboards as a central voice on these songs, with the addition of real rather than synthesized violin and harp, as well as a light hand with production, makes for a warmer and more enjoyable recording than its predecessor. Flutes, tabla, drums, and tinkling percussion add texture, harmony, and at times, twin melodies. A greater variance of composition and arrangement is evidenced by songs such as the sensual "Healing Dance," which opens with the strains of gypsy violin and grows to include a snake-hipped percussive rhythm, and by the hauntingly primordial vocals of "Laxshmi." "Tantra" is underscored by didjeridoo, and "Surrender" (a clear foundation for what is to come with his subsequent recording Angels of the Deep) is an angelic aria featuring harp and flute alongside Raphael's deftly fingered midsong piano solo. --Paige La Grone

5.0 out of 5 stars A great sequel to the first CD album of the same name September 12, 1999

Format:Audio CD
I use this CD album as background music when giving massages. It helps relax the subject and also gives me some indication of where we are in the time allotted for the massage experience. The music transports the listener to another dimension and evokes images of serenity, relaxation, harmony and bliss. I have often been told that it's the "perfect" music to use during a massage session. Many of my clients ask me about it and want to know where to find it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous, quiet, peaceful music February 12, 2001
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This recording is the perfect mix of both unobtrusive and compelling sound. So often, meditative music intended for background, mood-softening purposes winds up rather empty and weak. This instead draws you gently and willingly into a symphony of sound. Beautiful, beautiful music.... give it a try and I know you'll love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Mood music with lush sounds--easy on the ears. July 19, 1998
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I have had this CD for a couple of years, having bought it blind from a music club. It is slow to get going, but builds to a very nice climax, and is quite mood evoking. For me, it brings up images of India and mysticism. The sounds are lush and gentle. I feel soothed and pampered when I listen to this music. I recommend it for anyone who wants to go into another space inside their mind, for one who wants to take a journey of mood and mental images to a place far from everyday living. Yes, I guess you could say that it *is* music to disappear in!

This is my all time favorite "new age" CD. Frankly to call it New Age doesn't really describe it. This is some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard - I have had this CD since 1992. When I first bought it for some reason I never listened to it; just put it in the CD rack and forgot about it. A few years later, I came home from work one evening and my husband had it playing - he'd found it, was intrigued by the title and had put just it on before I came home. It literally stopped me in my tracks! I stood in the living room mesmerized by this stunningly beautiful music - "What is THAT?" I asked. Hubby said "I found it in the CD rack - how come you've never played it before?" I must have stood there for 10 minutes just listening. It kind of freaks me out to think, if my husband hadn't found it and played it that first time, it might still be stitting in the CD rack and I would never have experienced this beautiful, beautiful music. I probably listen to this several times a week; have been doing so ever since I first heard it and I never tire of it.
Everyone I have played it for has been blown away by it. Put this on the player, sit back, close your eyes and let it take you places. I promise you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rexax and renew August 14, 2005
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This music is great for relaxation and renewal. It is a beautiful synthesis of eastern/western music and although some may classify it as "new age" music, it is much more than that. Use it as a background for entertainment or while reading a good book. It is also great for meditation. Let yourself sit back and travel to other dimensions if you like using this music for a springboard.

Raphael is Raphael! His music is comfortable and for the most part unassuming. He causes the mind to simply turn loose and relax, which is a good thing.
