4.0 out of 5 stars Great new book for individualized study of ear training
This book is a required text for classes I teach at Laney College and at the Jazz school in Berkeley, Ca. It is a great book for beginners and intermediate students who wish to obtain computer assisted literature. The CD is very user friendly and works very well on both MAC and PC.(I have tried both.) 1.0 out of 5 stars BUYERS BEWARE!!
This ISBN # is for the INSTRUCTOR edition. If you are a student, you DO NOT need this edition. It doesn't tell you anywhere on this page that it is the instructor edition. In fact, the ad leads you to believe it is for students. This is INCORRECT. DO NOT buy this edition if you are a student who needs this book for class.

1.0 out of 5 stars CD is not for Vista, February 6, 2009
Great book but the CD is not certified to run on Windows Vista. Basically the book is useless without the CD. -_- Amazon need to label that on the item description.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sent incorrect edition, December 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The right book was sent to me, but the 2nd edition was sent to me, when the ISBN for the 3rd edition was searched for. I had to buy a new book from my school.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good ear training program, July 22, 2009

I have used several different texts to learn ear training, and this book was definitely not my favorite. First of all, the CD is not compatible with Windows Vista, which caused problems for my classmates with Vista on their computers. The text didn't rush through, but it wasn't very easy to learn. I would have to play intervals over and over again before I could attempt the book's exercises. Also, there are multiple errors in the book, which makes learning even more difficult (just when you think you have something nailed down, you're told that you are wrong, when really you're right, which confuses you even more -- not a lot of fun)

I preferred using the MacGamut software for ear training. It was more difficult, but when it came down to what mattered (training the ear), there was no comparison.

Using the Music For Ear Training text above, I ended up using MacGamut to train my ears, and I used musictheory(dot)net for additional practice. I would recommend looking elsewhere for ear training software. This one was very difficult to use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good content, poor assembly., September 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The binding on the pages is not very sturdy due to the tear-away feature that is located within the binding. Pages were starting to fall out within the first week of having the book. The content is fine; the construction could use improvement, though.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't think, June 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Sender didn't think about the CD-Rom in the back getting damaged and when the soft cover book was sent in a soft package, I received the CD snapped clean in half. I needed it for my class, and was luckily able to share with a friend to do the homework.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!!!!!!!!, September 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The discription on the product clearly says WITH CD

the product was sent to me and did not have a CD

and i contacted the seller and did not suggest a refund or any other options

instead shows me a lie about the product saying that it did not have CD
