Great for many types of dance, including ATS. Araf is well known for its publication of high quality audio and video field recordings collected from the Egyptian and North African countryside. We carry all Araf / Aisha Ali CDs and DVD Videos. From the Associated Research Arabic Folklore (ARAF), Music of the Fellahin, a companion to Music of the Ghawazee, takes us back into the Egyptian countryside. More wonderful rhythmic variations and vocals, including a short piece sung by three of the Banat Maazin dancers accompanied by mizmar, tabla baladi. Other instruments include: doumbec, tabla baladi, bendir, riq, nai, arghool, rebaba, mizmar, zils, and vocals. Recorded in Upper and Lower Egypt by Aisha Ali in 1973- 1974, this music presents a variety of Ghawazee dance songs as well as purely instrumental dance music. Included are the Rais Qinawi mizmar band playing for the Banat Mazin, a Bedouin version of the popular song Khudni Ma'ek with nay, darabukka and riqq, and Sai'di mizmar music played for the cane dance and tahtib (combat dance). As with all of Aisha's CDs and videos, the cover notes are informative, extensive and educational.
