This review is from: Music Hall Maven Stereo Receiver (Electronics)
Bought this 2 months ago and I am very happy with it overall. You can sense the quality from its sheer weight and details like the aluminum finish on the remote. And, most importantly, the sound is astounding.I am using it with a pair of B&W CM1 and they work very well together. There is a lot of detail as well as punch. (I use a Sunfire sub to add really low frequencies but mostly for movies, music is excellent without it.) My only complaint is that there is only one optical digital input. This is a problem for me because I want to use optical out from my PS3, DVR and iTunes/AirPort Express. I get around it by routing my PS3 and DVR through HDMI to my Samsung TV, using the optical out from the TV and then converting the AirPort Express optical to coaxial (the receiver does has one optical and one coaxial digital input). In worst case you could of course use the analogue inputs but when you have a D/A converter as nice as the one in this Music Hall receiver, you want to use it as much as possible. Pros: Very good quality, sound and design. Cons: Only one optical (and one coaxial) digital audio input. Price. |
