Nice, for a lack of a better word.,

Yes, nice is a huge understatement. The album is a demonstration of musicians so familiar with their instruments and with each other that it comes together like a soil and seed. I love it. I wrote the idiotic review "musical brilliance" or whatever it was called. I must have been drunk. I've listened to the album a lot lately and appreciate every element more and more. Yes, I still think Rich's lyrics are a little too obscure but thats personal preference, they're still good and he speaketh them smooth. I still feel that the music is the basis of the albums intelligence for it takes some serious talent to come up with such an overtly new sound without freaking people out. Who knows, it might freak you out, but you will likely be able to find enough familiarity in the music to tie the layers together. Its good, I like it.

Hey now, what are you doing - do you dig on some mean improv. jazz? Do you dig them coffee house poets? do you fuze your guitar with spoken word?Buck sure does. This is a stellar peice of work. If you like the language arts series and wan something else - if you dig the turntables and rich's tasty sonic scribbles - if you like you lyrics stretched out beyond the boom bap than thank god you found this. It's not rap/hip hop. It's not bop. It's jazz fusion - but not acid jazz. This is the land of giants. go ahead and take the leap - the music will have it's way with you.

Brilliant instrumentals,

The album is well worth checking out and will grow on you every time you listen to it. I found it hard to get past Rich's slightly nasal/far out lyricsm, but you do get used to it. Seeing these guys play live is unbelievable and the album definitely replicates the feeling. The instrumental element is the best part. Rich has always been able to instumentalize the turn tables and definitely compliments the organic feeling that Jerry and the rest have formed after playing together for so long. It has the free improvisation and technical expertise that I found in Miles Davis electric albums with a modern, 'urban groove' influence.
