3.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware-Fair collection, May 16, 2004
This review is from: Music You Heard on the Sopranos (Audio CD)
This is a marginally worthwhile purchase for those attempting to piece together the ultimate soundtrack to a fantastic series. Over half of the tracks listed are alternate versions, and HORRIBLE covers by HORRIBLE cover bands. All of the BB Band cover tracks are bad enough to make you want to pitch the whole 3 cd collection out of your window. Even tracks like "The Happy Organ" are alternate versions by the original artist. And "The Man With The Harmonica", is not the electronic remix used in the series. BUT, the collection is worthwhile for its inclusion of some hard to find, and out of print titles like "World Destruction", and "Forever Blowing Bubbles", amongst others, all the original versions, by the original artists. WARNING: THE COVER OF "WOKE UP THIS MORNING" IS QUITE POSSIBLY BAD ENOUGH TO SCAR YOUR INNER TONY, AND MAKE YOUR HATE A GREAT SHOW.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst TV Show CD Collection Ever........, November 9, 2005
This review is from: Music You Heard on the Sopranos (Audio CD)
This was an absolute dissapointment. Had I read the posted customer reviews before clicking on the "Place Your Order" button I would have saved myself alot of trouble and some cash.

The majority of the music on all three CD's is done by a band who will most likely never hit the proverbial big time. I've heard better music from a garage band comprised of junior high kids. If I wanted to hear that for hours on end I'd walk out my back door hang a left down the alley and pull up a chair while the kids from the band practiced their riffs on a forty dollar second hand amp.

There are some oldies that might interest some, but if that's what you are looking for I would strongly suggest investing your money in a 50's or 60's CD set. At least then you know what you're getting, and it's nice to listen to.

Fans of the show will surely be as dissapointed as I was with this set. Had I read the "fine print" I would have realized this was not marketed nor affiliated with or by HBO. I thought I had struck gold with this, as there were songs absent from the original soundtracks I wished were on there.

You can get more for your money buy purchasing a couple of frozen pizzas, a case of Mountain Dew and giving it to your local junior high garage band as payment to put on a show for you and yours. I use the CD's for coasters now and the occasional frisbee for my dauschound. Once that ceases to be entertaining I'll use them for skeet practice.

Save your money....steer clear of this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid At All Costs, July 20, 2005
By
This review is from: Music You Heard on the Sopranos (Audio CD)
This is a terrible compilation. The cover band is dreadful and the versions of the more popular well known songs by the original artists are not the original versions. When you read the track listing, where a cover band is used, the artist is not listed. The blurred fine print in the album photo is the statement which tells you the item is not licensed by "The Sopranos" and has nothing official to do with the show. Extremely disappointed with this item.
