5.0 out of 5 stars David Foster and Diane Warren=HITS
I cannot say enough about the partnership of songwriter Diane Warren and producer David Foster. Everytime they hook up, magic happens. 3.0 out of 5 stars ZZZZZZZZ ... but in a good way
For the most part, this CD is easy-listening, with the exception of a couple of songs. In fact, the only song that rouses you to get up and dance is the second track, Jennifer Lopez' "Baila." The title track isn't bad, although not as good as other songs N-Sync has released. My favorite song probably has to be "One Night With You" by C Note...

I cannot say enough about the partnership of songwriter Diane Warren and producer David Foster. Everytime they hook up, magic happens. And once again on the Muisc Of the Heart soundtrack, their work pays off. The movies theme "Music Of My Heart" is one of the most beautiful ballads in music history. Sung by the great Gloria Estevan and the red hot teen band N-Sync, the songs tender lyrics and incredible melody give it a rare sound that certainly won't be lost at radio. Foster's production is grand yet not over the top. He allows the vocalist to bring the best out of each other and feed off each other's emotion. This song rivals another Warren/Foster hit "Because You Loved Me" as the most telling yet simple love song ever recorded. This album is worth buying just for this song, but the album does have other brightspot's. It's a mix of latin dance tunes and some good ballads. Aaliyah's "Turn The Page" is a gorgeous, slow moving ballad that will tug at your heartstrings. The beautiful string arrangemet and her sweet voice give this song a certain sound that is capable of being a monster hit. Also, check out C-Note's One Night With You. It was also written by Diane Warren and will establish these guys as one of the better boys groups around. Overall this album has an overall sound that makes it a killer soundtrack to hopefully go along with a great movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars WOW.....A very overlooked soundtrack !!!, December 30, 2003
This review is from: Music of the Heart: The Album (Audio CD)
I think this could have been one of those huge releases like "City iof Angel's" or "Runaway Bride." The problem: not enough hype. Sure, we''ve all heard The Diane Warren penned "Music of my heart" by *Nysync and Gloria Estefan (who also plays a minor role in the movie) But what else does this disc have to offer ? Allow me to tell you...

1) MUSIC OF MY HEART: I am not a huge Nsync fan, but I know talent when I hear it. Pleasant, but not as powerful and perhaps som Estefan are hoping for.

2)BAILA : HA !! This was released before J.Lo was big news !! She does a great job and this song makes you wanna get up and dance.

3)TURN THE PAGE : This is agruably the best song ths CD and is somewhat the theme of the movie. Aaliyah doesn't belt it out, but instead delivers a sweet love ballad that could be played at a wedding. And boy does she deliver !! Why wasn't this a big hit for Aaliyah ? It never became a single and wasn't featured on any of her CD's !!

4)GROOVE WITH ME TONIGHT: Who the heck are MDO ? Aside from that this song has a strong beat. One Problem : I'm a christian and consider the lyrics immoral.

5)SEVENTEEN: Whoa...nice. Tre-O serves up and nice lil'groove a la Whitney's "Its not right but its ok. the harp sound effect is somewhat unnecessary, but the rap half way through the song totally brings it all to a climax.

6)ONE NIGHT WITH YOU: caution: Red alert, Nsync/Backstreet boys clone detected. I seriously don't know if I've ever heard anyone who souns more like Justin Timberlake in my whole life. This is written by Diane Warren, but is one of the weaker ones on the disc. Morally and Musically.

7)DO SOMETHING : Macy Gray completely seems our of place here, which adds to the diversity of this disc. A nice remix. This is also before Macy's popularity got revved up.

8)REVANCHA DE AMOR: Who is this talented girl ? She has a great voice and the spanish beat is so cool !! One of my faves on the disc.

9) NOTHING ELSE : Unless you are a fan of the Iglesias guys, you won't like this one. The guitar intro is very cool, but his voice just hurts your ears after a while. He sounds like he's slobbering all over the microphone. uh....

10) Like I said, I'm a christian and LOVE Christian music. But, after hearing about "Chasing Papi" I put Jaci Velasquez on my black list. This songs isn't bad. And this is before she began making moral compromisses, so its actually somewhat enjoyable, even though its only intention is as a filler to keep the CD from being too short.

11)MUSIC OF MY HEART (PABLO FLORES REMIX) : When I read the name, I remembered what Pable flores had done on Whitney's "Greatest Hits" CD and how he changed her songs into night club head bobbers. BUT, he actually improves on this one !! He adds a little bit of spanish guitar to it doesn't wreck it with a heavy beat. Its really relaxing

12)CONCERTO IN D MINOR FOR TWO VIOLINS : This was such a perfect ending to this CD. AFter all that Pop this one just brings it all together. Its much more powerful to see Meryl Streep and her kids do it on stage.

I love this CD. Its full of pleasant surprises and really good songs !! Go for it!

The title track isn't bad, although not as good as other songs N-Sync has released. My favorite song probably has to be "One Night With You" by C Note. Like the title song, it was written by Diane Warren, who is, IMHO, the premier writer of ballads out there right now. The rest of the CD is mostly filler ... nice to listen to, but not exactly memorable either. The end track, "Concerto In D Minor For Two Violins," is music for the ears, and easily the best track on the CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Never thought I'd get this CD- but guess what-, October 18, 1999

I did. I'm totally laughing at myself for doing it, but actually, it isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The pop songs, as far as pop songs go, are nicely done, though Estefan's voice left something to be desired for a few spots in the the theme song. IMO, Velasquez has the better voice of the two. I found the lyrics for C Note's "One Night with You" to be rather inane, but I'm willing to overlook that because I actually liked the melody. And as for track twelve... yippee, O'Connor, Bell, Perlman, and Stern all doing the first movement of the Bach Double??? KEWL!!! That is such a major kick to listen to the big-name virtuosos doing one of the staples of the student violin repertoire. I should be grateful they put that on at all, I suppose. But more classical music would've been fine, I says... :-) Let's hope the movie does justice to Roberta and her students, and hope even more that Joshua Bell, Mr. Photogenic of the four virtuosos, gets a few head shots during the concert scenes. I think it's a travesty that he couldn't get a half-second cameo in the music video. Maybe that Karen Black video on VH1 left him with a few caveats about venturing into the world of the pop music video?

I got this cd, for the nice selection of hispanic artists on it. The Gloria song is pretty, and I like the Gizelle one. The last track is also very unique. I liked the mixture on this cd, and I can't wait to see the movie!

Boy bands are not usually very talented people. They're singing is usually not that great. Well, I d have to say 'N Sync steps up to that lable of being a "boy band" and tears it down, this time. Their vocal skills are quite exceptional, and the main reson for me purchasing this album is Gloria Estefan's always talented voice. Jennifer Lopez's song trys, but gets a little cheesey, and unfelt. Thank you for reading this!
