1.0 out of 5 stars Don't get this CD. There are better ones out there., June 4, 2000
This review is from: Music for a Jewish Wedding (Audio CD)
This is perhaps the WORST CD you could get for a Jewish wedding. The organ music for the ceremony introduction is flat, dirge-like and inappropriate, and they have a narrator talking over it, making it useless for an actual ceremony. AND they use Mendelssohn`s famous wedding song and Wagner's wedding march! While these may be the songs that Americans think about when they think of weddings, Wagner was a virulent anti-Semite and Mendelssohn a convert to Christianity. It is just inappropriate for a traditional Jewish wedding.

The rest of the arrangements are lackluster, with the exception of the song "Mayim" which is actually palatable. Most of the other songs either don't reflect Jewish traditional musical styles (a Latin version of "Die Greene Koseene") or sound like a cheesy wedding band trying to play Jewish music instead of a good Klezmer band.

If you are looking for music to play at a Jewish Wedding, find "Mazel Tov!," produced by the Neshoma Orchestra, or "Love Songs and Blessings" by David Shneyer. They have tracks you can actually use in a Jewish Wedding.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looking for a wedding music... don't stop here, July 15, 2002

With so many good bands out there ... - why would anyone want this antiquated CD. Sounds more like a funeral dirge then a simcha (happy ocassion). And definitely agree with the previous review - Wagner doesn't belong on anything Jewish. If you're looking for music for an upcoming wedding - try Neginah or Neshoma Orchestras, Piamenta (if you appreciate an awesome musician), Oif Simchas if you like techno rock, Chevra if you like "boy group" ala N'Sync. All can be found online.
