"Music" is a record of a lifetimes passion for a subject with which, Sir Edward Heath has been involved since he was nine years old. He recalls his own musical experiences, from his days as a chorister in his parish church to his work as a conductor of international renown - a career that began when he conducted the London Symphony Orchestra playing Elgar's "Cockaigne" overture at its gala concert at the Royal Festival Hall in 1971. He describes and explains music as an art, writes about famous composers, performers and compositions and provides a revealing account of what it is like to conduct an orchestra. New chapters cover favourite themes such as British music and music festivals and his 80th birthday celebrations in 1994. It is aimed at those who have a serious interest in music and for those who would like to understand music, but who know little about it.
