With such a price tag, you would expect more than just fancy box-covers. But thats all you get with this one. Yet, for Madonna fans, this may be the ultimate collector's item. 3.0 out of 5 stars Expected More
When Music was released last September I rushed out, and I bought the original version and this limited edition. There is not much difference: same amount of tracks as original version, a few more pages in the booklet, a book type case and a metal belt buckle with MUSIC embedded into it, which is embedded into the cover. After a wonderful limited edition version of Ray Of...

The music is excellent, and the packaging is stare-worthy too. However, I sort of expected the CD to carry more than just the standard 10 tracks - it would have been nice if this Limited Edition carried 'Cyberraga' and 'American Pie' - but thats asking for too much, I guess.

If you're a serious collector, go for it, as this item is now out-of-print, and will only get more expensive as time goes by.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great album with great packaging...need I say more?, August 8, 2001

It was about eight months ago when my best friend got this new "limited edition" version of the Matchbox Twenty album "Mad Season." It had such cool packaging. It was just like a small hard-covered book with about 20 pages of photos. At the end, you found the CD attached by only a circular piece of foam. I said to myself, "Why can't an artist I like put out something like this? Someone like Madonna (my all-time favorite artists)." Time passed and I bought the regular version of the "Music" CD when it came out. From the first time I heard it I though it was one of Madonna's best albums. I especially loved "Music", "Amazing", "Don't Tell Me", and "Gone". Some more time passed and then I found out that Madonna put out a special edition of this "Music" album. I didn't even know what it looked like. All I knew was that it came in four different colors that varied in rarity (black, grey, tan, and rose in no specific order) and that there were only a total of 20,000 copies made. I figured that I would get it since I liked the "Music" album so much and I thought it would be cool to own something so rare. I called all the music stores by my house--Wherehouse, Tower, Sam Goody, Record Town--none of them had it! So I went on ebay to see if I could bid on any. There were a few auctions for this CD but the prices were outrageous. Then I came to this site. I was just browsing through different Madonna items and I found it available to buy for the regular retial price! Even though the color is sent at random, I was excited to finally be owning one of these limited CD's. It arrived a week later and I couldn't wait to open it. The cover they sent me was grey which I am happy about because I think that the grey one is the nicest of them all. I opened the CD and found that it was the exact same as that Matchbox Twenty CD I saw at my friend's house a while ago. It had the hard covers, the photo book, and even the circular piece of foam with the CD at the end! I was so thrilled that Madonna put out something like this and that I owned one of only 20,000 made! This a great album with a great package that is extremely rare...need I say more?

4.0 out of 5 stars MUSIC Sounds better with MADONNA, November 10, 2000
By
This review is from: Music (Limited Edition) (Audio CD)
Following the multi-platinum success of 1998's Ray of Light, Madonna follows up with a brand new album which is less introspective. Music is edgier. Several tracks of the album like Gone and I Deserve It are acoustic efforts not unlike One More Chance from STR. On both songs, Madonna's inner feelings are revealed and are closest in mood and content to Drowned World from ROL. The best track must be What It Feels Like A Girl which would put teenyboppers like Britney and Christina to shame. Madonna explains how hard it is (for her) to challenge the odds and rise to the occasion as a girl/woman. Other star tracks include the funky amalgamation of guitar and beats on Don't Tell Me and the Beautiful Stranger-sequel Amazing. Overall, a less serious effort than its predecessor and will inevitably draw comparisons beytween the two. The key is to listen with an open mind, and remembering that both CDs are totally different in content and concept. The limited edition comes with more pictures and a 4-different color cover with a MUSIC logo embossed onto the digipak cover. Stunning particularly the black!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's amazing what this girl can do, she cannot stop herself, February 9, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Music (Limited Edition) (Audio CD)
Don't ever tell her to stop. This excellent album includes the excellent singles to Music (#1 UK, #1 US, #1 OZ), Don't Tell Me (#4 UK, #4 US, #7 OZ) and What It Feels Like For A Girl (#7 UK, #23 US, #6 OZ). Some editions like the UK original album may include American Pie. The UK original album DOES include American Pie (#1 UK, #29 US, #1 OZ). The single for American Pie was only available outside of the US so it had to be charted due to it's airplay, also like Beautiful Stranger which charted at #19 in the US and #2 in the UK. The album includes 7 or 8 (depending on weather American Pie is on your CD) other excellent songs for you to enjoy.

This special limited edition is THE BEST Madonna collectable there is - many are saying it is one of the best or finest but I think it is HER BEST (notice the word best is different to one of the best) limited edition so far! Ray Of Light limited edition won an award for the best packaging but I think this should've won atleast 10! It is presented in a hard style chip book which is totally different to the original artworking! It has a music logo stamped on the front which is simply stunning! It is avaiable in 4 colours -- collect them all! (Rose Pink, Blue/Grey/Olive, Cream/Beige and BLACK -- the best one!) The Black is also the rarest but still I managed to find it. I was in France when I got these CDS. I was in a record store and they had LOADS of Music album items!

Overall Score - 10/10.

Go crazy for this item! I own all 4 colours plus 2 other editions - Chinese and Mexico editions! The limited edition (packaging) ones are the best. My Rose Pink and Cream/Beige editions have 10 tracks without American Pie (regular US album). My Black (did I mention this is the BEST ONE!?) and Blue/Grey/Olive have 11 tracks with American Pie! The Chinese album is exactly the same tracklisting as the UK album (11 tracks with American Pie) but includes a <EXCLUSIVE> yellow horseshoe disc instead of the brown one! It is also manufactured in China as the CD clearly states! The mexican CD includes 10 tracks without American Pie but with 2 bonus remixes of What It Feels Like For A Girl! -- The infamous Above & Beyond radio edit plus Spanish Version. I bought all 6 on the same day in the same shop -- me family and the assistants thought I was crazy! Great limited edition(s)!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT ITEM!, January 16, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Music (Limited Edition) (Audio CD)
This item is so beautifully packaged (much better than the Ray Of Light or GHV2 Limited Editions). I have the pink and blue editions, and the pink one is better (it's the one you'll most likely receive if you order it). It's well worth your money and you better act quick because they are becoming excessively rare! I bought the pink one at Amazon.com, but the Blue one cost me a LOT more from an independent vendor! This item is already a collector's item and I'm SHOCKED that they are still available!!

5.0 out of 5 stars What else could you expect from her???, November 6, 2001

I think there's nothing more to add to what has been said or written about this special edition of the remarkable "Music" album and Madonna. Needless to say I am a big fan of the star and when I saw this edition I couldn't resist to get one.
I bought it in Paris, last April and now back home in Peru I consider it one of the rarest and finest of my Madonna collection. Thank Madonna for her "music".

This is the limited edition of Madonna's "Music" album. It has already shipped 2 million units in the US alone! Worldwide, the total sales amount stands at an amazing 5 million!! This album is her finest work to date, featuring the hit single "Music" and the soon to be released "Don't Tell Me". A must buy for any Madonna fan!

4.0 out of 5 stars More than a simple surprise., September 19, 2000
By
P.M. Heinrich (Almere Netherlands) - See all my reviews

Maturiry and stature are words best used in regard to this mixture of disco and a very Madonnaesque style. At times it reminded me of the time at the beginning of the electronical music era when raw electronical effects were mixed with voice, drums and an almost clinical feel. However the lack of emotions in those days has been put aside and a warmer feel has attached itself to this latest CD by this musical chameleon. I was very impressed by the song "Don't tell me" where an almost natural run and stop interupted rythm and melody shows how well the music of Madonna is done, both technically as well as artistically. The cd is split into two parts, the first part focusses on what music should do with the body: dance. While the second part stimulates the mind: emotions. Overall a surprise treat by a very driven musician even if some of the electronical effects are overdone.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best madonna collectables, June 25, 2004
This review is from: Music (Limited Edition) (Audio CD)
I usually don't buy these kinds of items but I went crazy on this one. The design for this special edition is marvelous. I own the four colors, including three copies of the black (one with bonus track american pie). My personal favorites are the pink and the black. You will receive the pink (or maybe the grey) from amazon. The black is especially rare and can be found either on the Amazon marketplace (ask the seller first because very few have the black or the beige), or on Ebay.

Inside, a 24-page booklet with more pictures from the Music photo session, though the full lyrics are NOT included, only little parts of "Music" as in the regular edition booklet.

There is a bonus track on the euro edition of this cd (american pie), but I think the one offered here is the u.s. version (same tracklist as the regular cd).
