I used to watch M-Squad on TV in the early 60's, love anything Lee Marvin did, and especially like the theme song by Count Basie. Stanley Wilson is a great composer, equal to Henry Mancini and his Peter Gunn music. I highly recommend this CD for those who like Wilson and Mancini.

During the time M Squad, starring Lee Marvin, was on television, the practice was to use jazz, both small group and orchestral, as soundtrack music. This soundtrack - if only there was more of it - is exactly the type of thing you'll think of, along with fine music for Peter Gunn and other such shows. I'd forgotten the music from this show was so listenable. Great stuff.

In the 50's and early to mid 60's there were numerous excellent "G MAN" programs on television. None was quite as good as "M SQUAD" starring Lee Marvin. I definetly feel the music had a great deal to do with this shows success. Stanley Wilsons' music is so GREAT it is "scarry". The depth and persuasive urgency of what it is designed to create in the human mind while they are watching the show is the BEST to ever be found created by any composer and conductor of "CRIME JAZZ". I have the original album that I purchased back then and recently found that it was available on Amazon in an MP3 format. If you are a true "JAZZ FREAK" and don't have the music from "M SQUAD" then buy it right now. I promise you the thrill of a "JAZZERS" lifetime. You will be playing this for all your friends immediately. Thank you AMAZON!
