(Kinetic) When Hanover, Germany’s Timo Maas released the inaugural version of Music for the Maases, a collection of his best remixes, it was packaged on two discs. Really, its particular substance should have been paired down to one. On MFTM2, he’s kept things more concise, offering a single disc that builds on the first installment with a more prominent clientele. Kelis’ "Young Fresh and New" gets a funky and dance-floor-ready Prince-styled groove, complete with a thumping four-on-the-floor kick. His remix of Garbage’s "Breaking Up the Girl" is almost unrecognizable from the group’s original and oddly sounds more like Garbage than what the group crafted on their own. Elsewhere, denizens of dance BT and Starecase offer "Never Gonna Come Back Down" and "See," respectively, for the wünder-producer, who bombards them with tough-loving beats. The real standout is Maas’ manipulation of Fatboy Slim’s "Star 69," a deep, dubby trance affair, which actually got more airplay than Norman Cook’s original. MFTM2 is certainly a step above its predecessor and a good sampler for major artists seeking a producer to give them a career overhaul. We won’t be surprised if Kylie and Britney are name-dropping Timo Maas the next time we read the tabloids.

This album carries the signature of Timo's unique sound, along with his very original twisted vibe. It's an excellent new sound from track to track, especially the mixing in the vocal tracks. I think it's very fresh. - Great job. Plus the DVD is pretty wild.. This album is an essential!!

This CD has a few great hits on it, but the rest is rubbish. Not really worth spending money on, as there are much better albums out there, especially as electronic music enters a golden age.

Too fluffy for trance, too thumpy for pop. Remixes should -add something- to the underlying track but I can't tell that any of these are superior to the source material in any way.

Goes to show that every artist can be hit-and-miss, because I thought _Pictures_ was GREAT.
