4.0 out of 5 stars Condoms Not Included.
Ultra records compiles 2 CDs of (mostly) electronic music for couples who wanna, ahem, get busy. In my opinion, nothing compares to Sade or the Isley Brothers when it comes to music to make love by, but this collection (the credits don't say who mixed the discs) does the job nicely. We're off to a jazzy start on disc 1 with "Sensual Woman" by the Herbaliser...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ummm... the earth didn't move...
I can't say I like the music presented in this collection. The songs seem kinda bland, or monotonous. I've heard better lounge. Some of my favorite collections are "Ultimate Lounge" and "Pure Chill Out 2". They don't claim to sex us up, but their music is better and quite erotic, im my opinion.

We're off to a jazzy start on disc 1 with "Sensual Woman" by the Herbaliser and "Tonight" by downtempo staple Koop. The groove eventually morphs into mellow house with cuts like 'My Precious Thing" by Llorca, Norah Jones and Wax Poetic's remixed "Angels," and Luomo's "Body Speaking." Disc 2 has interesting kicks of its own, featuring a dash of reggae on "Midnight Marauders" by Joe Dukie & DJ Fitchie, some electronic touches on Vikter Duplaix's "Sexuality" and the chilled touches of "Shake it Loose" by Dolphin Boy. You want some bossa nova? No problem. Check out Balanco's "A Man and a Woman." While these CDs were made specifically for those intimate moments, "Music to Make Love By" also qualifies for a solid chillout collection of laid-back jams.

I absolutely love this CD set! I've just ordered my third copy because I have either given a disc to someone who I knew would love it (and did!) or they have been taken and played so many places that the scratches are too much to enjoy the beat. I would highly recommend this set to anyone with an open mind who likes a chill, laid back beat, yet still has the desire to get up and grind with a special someone on a hot & sweaty summer night filled with cocktails, intense chemistry, naughty undertones, and a dope beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chill music to make love by or just listen to, July 5, 2009

Yes, it's true that this is really nothing more than a collection of slowed down club songs, but if you like that sort of thing it's a solid album... Then again, why would you even buy this album if you didn't? The mixing is loose, and the sound quality oddly lo-fi, but instead of detracting it makes the experience more organic and intimate. Each CD has its own ebb and flow bringing you in and out of the trance. If you like 'trancey' chill albums then this is a solid compilation. I've been listening to this album for several years now and I still enjoy it each time (I'm actually listening to it right now and it inspired me to write this review).

Look, if you want to make love to slowed down rave music, this collection is perfect for you. If not, well...look elsewhere. The music is more grating to the ear than sensual and mood enhancing. The only good thing about this is the cover art.
