I had this sent to someone on their birthday. Adorable, and the person loved the thought but said that the item was scratched up and looked used.

Never before have I heard a music box play out of tune. So far out of tune I thought that the drum had been made with a wrong note at first since one of the off notes was closer to a C than the D it was supposed to be. I had expected top quality, since the internals looked just like the Kikkerland music boxes I've ordered before (which were of impeccable build and beautiful sound Kikkerland Sound of Music Edelweiss Crank Music Box). I'm very disappointed with the quality of this Schylling model, although I probably won't be going to the trouble of returning such a cheap item when I can toss it in the toybox and let my kid play with it till it breaks. Not that I'd be able to tell any difference if it did. I hope the most untuned notes goes first, because it really hurts to listen to right now.

Music box was out of tune and noticeably buzzed. Played it three times to make sure I wasn't imagining things, then returned it. Disappointing; meant to give it to a friend for his birthday.

I've been carrying this thing around in my pouch in this god-forsaken wasteland for who knows how long. Maybe it's denial, maybe it's a reminder of things so far past that it seems like another lifetime. All there is out there now is gasoline and death.

HOWEVER... I met this kid today. Poor guy, a product of the wasteland. Wicked with a boomerang, not sure who his family is. Probably doesn't have a family any more, like so many others. I don't think about my family any more. Anyways, a few cranks of the handle and his eyes lit up. I threw it to him and he gave it a few cranks, and he LOVED IT!!!!

Totally recommend this as either a fun toy for kids or as a bleak and ironic reminder of a past when living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
