Almost Complete, March 18, 2001
This review is from: The Music Man (Vocal Score) (Paperback)
The book overall is fabulous! It contains every song in the show, with accompaniement piano and vocal. I was trying out for The Music Man, but the director wouldn't hand out tryout music until a week before. Being a musical enthuisiast and wishing to begin practicing immediately, I ordered this book and had it shipped express. It arrived the next day, to my satisfaction. I didn't make the lead, but I got into the show when few my age did. I only wish the libretto was included.

Not Just Music....It's FANTASTIC!, May 16, 2000
This review is from: The Music Man (Vocal Score) (Paperback)
This book is PERFECT for any musician either interested in American musicals, preparing to perform for this musical, or just someone who loves music. It gives several versions of the songs in the musical, as well as piano scores. Marvelous to have everything in one book. Would recommend it to everyone. Perfect addition to your collection.

This IS the complete score--not completely orchestrated, but..., September 18, 2008
This review is from: The Music Man (Vocal Score) (Paperback)
I've noticed that some people complain about this item not being the "complete score." Perhaps we should be clear here: this item *IS* the complete score (it has all the songs and incidental music), it even has orchestral cues. What it does *NOT* have is the actual orchestration. To get that, you have to schedule a performance with MTI (Musical Theater International) and *RENT* the complete orchestration.
All that said, I am very pleased with this purchase. We'll be doing it at my school next semester, and having this will GREATLY help our preparation. I must confess to being a little worried when I opened it and observed how *thin* it was, but I checked and, sure enough, every single song or incidental movement is there, just as it should be.
Also of note is that this book is the *original* piano/vocal score of The Music Man, not any of the revivals or film versions (the film version with Robert Preston & Shriley Jones had two versions of "Gary, Indiana," not one; and "Being in Love" instead of "My White Knight"). I'm not sure if those resources are even available for sale.
