Performed by David Syme, piano Accompaniment: Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra Conductor: Emil Kahn This concerto, one of only two Mozart wrote in a minor key, is by far the most famous of all his piano concerti and is filled with profound music of the highest order as well as lively and charming themes. Among its later, most ardent admirers were Beethoven and Brahms. Demands sensitivity from the soloist, and is an important work for every pianist to study and learn. This deluxe 2CD set includes a slow-tempo practice version to help you get up to speed. Includes a printed music score on high-quality ivory paper; a digital stereo compact disc featuring a complete performance of the concerto with orchestra and soloist, and a second performance minus you, the soloist; and a second compact disc containing a full-speed version of the complete version as well as a special -20% slow-tempo version of the accompaniment for practice purposes. The concerto is voluminously indexed for your practice and performance convenience.

4.0 out of 5 stars CD should be better quality., January 5, 2010
This review is from: Music Minus One Piano: Mozart Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, KV466 (Sheet Music and CD Accompaniment) (Paperback)
Contains historical information on this concerto and of Mozart as a pianist. The orchestral score is reduced in size but the piano solo should be in a larger print than it is, at least to my liking. I'm practicing with a different edition.

The CD is of lesser quality (as least it sounds tinny and a little scratchy with quality headphones on a Sony boom box). There are two metronome tempos for play along: the first at about 120 and the performance somewhere around 144. The tempo fluctuates and there are spots where the pianist and orchestra aren't together. Kevin Class plays the Beethoven cadenzas and they are inserted into the score.

All in all, I have to admit it has been a lot of fun playing along with one of these Music Minus One concerto cds, and it certainly is a GREAT practice tool for getting this great concerto up to tempo and ready for performance. My hope is to post a performance for my friends and family on Facebook, though I wish the cd was better quality.
