This album is very dark and sparse. While about half of the tracks could appear to be merely "background" music this would be short-changing the work. Most of the tracks are very interesting and at times scary. Equally suited for a very cool party or simply drifting off to sleep I recommend this. For an added bonus try driving through Brooklyn at midnight in the pouring rain listening to this and you will see why this fit the movie so well.

I was turned onto Cliff Martinez after hearing his work on the Traffic soundtrack (also awesome). This is brilliance overlooked, period. I've never seen the movie, but after listening to this i want to. The music is very dark, and admittedly soothing at times. This is definitely one of those CDs I listen to when trying to get some work done. Most of the tracks are almost seamless, which is good when you are trying not to break concentration on something you are doing, but it has enough variety in it that you wont get bored with listening to it. My first impression was that most of the songs sounded the same, but after listening to it again, its not so much that they are the same, but its the way Martinez set them up to sound. Give it a listen you will see what I mean. Great buy, definitely worth the money.
